This post reports to the Director, Commercial Opportunities
MSK’s
Social Franchise Network under the African Health Markets for Equity (AHME)
Program as well as network of Marie Stopes Kenya Clinics.
The main role of the Business
Advisor is to assist with and/or implement all activities pertaining to
management and business skill capacity building for both AMUA social franchise
network and MSK clinics.
In addition, this role will
ensure sustainable operationalization of the National Hospital Insurance Fund
(NHIF) capitation model that is currently running with MSK Clinics.
The strategic purpose of the Department is: Strategic exploitation of commercial and marketing opportunities benefitting the fulfillment of MSK's mission across all service delivery channels.

This post has the following key responsibilities with related deliverables:
A. Assist with and/or implement all activities pertaining to management and business skill capacity building for both AMUA social franchise network and MSK clinics
Activities will include;
1. Identification
and selection of health facilities in the AHME partners’ networks that might be
eligible for capacity building.
2. Upon
positive intake as per relevant Selection Criteria, conclude the signing of a
Participation Agreement with the facility.
3. Identification
and selection of health facilities in the AHME partners’ networks that might be
eligible for capacity building.
4. Upon
positive intake as per relevant Selection Criteria, conclude the signing of a
Participation Agreement with the facility.
5. In
cooperation with the networks’ Quality Advisors produce the Situational
Analysis Plus document.
6. Write
an Expert Opinion on the facility and have it approved by MCF.
7. Upon
approval assist the facility in applying for an Entry Loan with the MCF’s
partner banks.
8. Upon
loan approval and disbursement facilitate the Quality Advisors’ production of a
SafeCare Entry Assessment and a subsequent Quality Upgrade Plan.
9. Provide
business training to participating AMUA social Franchises, MSK Clinics and
Outreach Teams.
10. Work
with the health facilities to develop a Business cases and plans for approval.
11. Identification
of commercial opportunities within the facilities that will make them performs
better and post a better return.
12. Assist
MSK Clinic Channel lead in business analysis of the clinic network, support
centre managers in development of clinic business and improvement plans, and
build centre managers’ capacity in business skills.
B. Ensure enrolment of MSK
Clinic to Health Insurance Schemes such as NHIF and other general
insurance schemes like APA and subsequent sustainable management of such
schemes
Activities will include;

1. Enrolment
of MSK Clinics to NHIF and other corporate and insurance schemes.
2. Continuous
recruitment of beneficiaries to various clinics for the NHIF capitation scheme.
3. Scoping
institutional clients covered by insurance schemes and corporate clients and
offering them health talks and driving the numbers to MSK clinics.
4. Constantly
liaise with the centre managers and ensure that the schemes are efficiently and
sustainably run.
5. Generate
monthly scheme performance reports per clinic and as a whole.
Skills and Experience
Qualifications:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s
degree in Commerce, Finance, Business Administration or an equivalent from
a recognised university.
- CPA (K), ACCA
or equivalent qualification
Experience:
- At least three
years post qualification experience in the financial sector.
- Management
experience in the health sector.
- Experience in
microfinance or SME lending is major added advantage.
- Experience in
insurance scheme’s or fund management will be an added advantage.

- Financial

literate, including use of tablets and databases/web applications.
