NGO County Coordinators Jobs in Kenya (5 Positions)

Background: Solidaridad Eastern and Central Africa is a Not-for-Profit organization (NPO) with offices in Nairobi, and a member of the Global Network of Development Organizations is seeking suitable personnel to fill the vacancies of County Coordinators (5 positions) for a new project.
 
A. Job Purpose / Objective: The County Coordinator, Food for All Project Kenya will be a key staff member within SECAEC, and responsible for coordination of the implementation of the field activities and trainings in the project areas. 

This position is seeking individuals with high excellent and interpersonal skills, well positioned to collaborate with farmers, County Governments, other stakeholders, and project partners in the respective Counties covering the project. 

The candidate must be able to translate the project needs into workable solutions, processes, and systems. 

The right candidate should be flexible, innovative, willing to learn and easily fit in a dynamic and intercultural environment.
 
B. Organizational Position: Reporting to the Regional Program Manager – Horticulture, the County Coordinator-Food for All Project, will run all field activities including advisory, coordination, monitoring and motivating other field staffs in order to achieve the overall objective of the project. 

He/She must be knowledgeable in general crops (Horticulture) husbandry in line with EUREP GAP & Kenya GAP, Dairy, Livestock, and possess solid technical aptitude. 

He/she is expected to be an excellent communicator, able to explain complex subjects in a clear and interesting way to extension staff and farmers, and work with minimal supervision. 

He/she is able to deliver reports in time so as to ensure smooth and effective running of project activities in partnership with project partners, County and National government representatives, and other stakeholders.
 
C. Responsibilities and Tasks
 
C.1. Project Planning and Support (80%)
  • Coordinate Food for all project activities, resources, equipment, staff and information
  • Help prepare project reports (Monthly, Quarterly and Annual), Work plans, and activity schedule.
  • Monitor and track project’s progress and handle any other issues that may arise, based on the
  • Monitoring plan, in consultation with the Program Manager.
  • Determine overall effectiveness of the project approaches and make improvements, in consultation with the Program manager
  • Ensure that the consortium members work together and adheres to the principles of partnership and cooperation.
  • Provide strong leadership and coordinate the effort of partners in the consortium and the County government, while promoting a unified approach
  • Conduct field visits and monitor implementation of the project such as Demonstrations, Nurseries, Dairy Units and collective marketing.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the Field agronomists including data collection such as Production, Sales and Trainings
  • Any other assignment that may be allocated.
C.2 General Capacity building (15%)
  • Support the capacity building of agronomists, farmers, promoter farmers, and TOTs by offering technical and material support to the relevant trainers in coordination with Partners.
  • Execute training sessions, webinars/Skype, workshops, in groups or individually, in liaison with partners and consultants.
  • Arrange for and conduct on-site training/Workshops/Stakeholders forums when needed
  • Maintain updated database of all project activities such as training records, in the prescribed monitoring tools
C.3 Representation (5%)
  • Support the Solidaridad in its decentralization efforts and in the organizational development activities aiming to build efficient structures and procedures for management of long-term projects.
  • Promote communication within the stakeholders in order to increase project visibility in the county
  • Represent Solidaridad especially the County Government and National government agencies as well as non-governmental organizations operating in the county.
  • Ensure good cooperation with all relevant external partners including the Dutch Embassy, Projects funded by Dutch embassy and Dutch ministry of Foreign affairs.
  • Participate in meetings and seminars on the request of the Program Manager -Horticulture.
  • Organize, coordinate, lead and report on field and mission visits of staff, partners and other stakeholders to the county and project sites.
D. Deliverables
  • Collect, collate and submit weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual progress reports of activities and meetings with farmers and other stakeholders relating to projects work.
  • Maintain an updated list of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and analysis in reference to targets set and agreed on.
  • Complete reports on visits by marketers and/or partners.
E. Qualifications and Experience
  • BSc. in Agriculture/Animal production or any other related fields,
  • Minimum of 3 years post-graduation experience in project coordination, agronomist or extension services in a related field,
  • Experience in working in the specific County will be an added advantage,
  • Proven working experience in agronomy, livestock production, with smallholder farmers as an extension officer, project coordinator, or manager in an international development organization,
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills,
  • Strong in report writing and ability to make a presentation.
  • Ability to work and deliver results without close supervision,
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and of project management tools.
