Our client, a manufacturing company in the outcasts of Nairobi is seeking to recruit a Quality Controller to lead their technical team.

Job Purpose:
 to ensure that the bottling process meets the product and packaging quality requirements as well as assure quality of blown bottles and Incoming inspection

Roles and responsibilities;

  • Calibrate measuring equipment as in master list.
  • Report on measuring equipment and submit error report.
  • Follow SOP for monitoring quality on the production line and syrup room
  • Ensures implementation of steps to deal with non-conforming product, and take immediate action.
  • Run SPC programme on respective lines.
  • Collect and test retention samples.
  • Sign off simple syrup and final syrup for production.
  • Participate in quality improvement projects.
  • Participate in root cause analyses to resolve quality issues.
  • Ensure all lab equipment is cleaned after use.
  • Monitor GMP on lines and in syrup room.
  • Maintain lab housekeeping standards.
  • Maintain 5S standards in lab and support teams on line with 5S.
Education and experience
  • Bachelor of Sciences degree / Diploma in Food Technology
  • At least 3 years working experience in a manufacturing setup

  • Performs and facilitates execution of administrative activities and procedures for the effective execution of own role
  • The ability to command attention & respect with confidence and tact
  • Ensure compliance to company policies, procedures and legislation

Job Purpose: To manage the total SHE function in order to ensure full compliance with all local and HMWC requirements related to health, safety and the environment.

Reports to 

Directly: Business Systems Coordinator, EOSH Coordinator

Indirectly: Quality Controller, Microbiologist

Roles and responsibilities

Understand Business Strategic Priorities and Business Processes;
  • Align Quality Goals and Objectives with Business Strategic Priorities
  • Develop the lab budget
Manage Health, Safety, Environment And Risk;
  • Ensure compliance to all SHEQ requirements
  • Participate in IMCR process pertaining to product recall
Initiate and Facilitate Continuous Improvement;
  • Ensure continuous improvement in Manufacturing
  • Facilitate problem solving
Deliver Excellence in Customer Service;
  • Engage with internal customers to develop partnerships and capability
Managed Cost;
  • Manage Cash Operating Expenses
  • Manage Rolling Estimates within the Lab
Human Resource Management;
  • Ensure individual KPI's are aligned to KPI'S of Total Organization
  • People development
  • Performance management
  • On-going, informal performance monitoring, feedback and coaching provided daily or as required

Education and experience
  • Masters degree in Science (BSc) or Food sciences
  • Bachelor degree or Higher National Diploma in Science (BSc)
  • At least 3 years working experience in a relevant SHEQ role in the food industry
  • At least 3 years in a supervisory role
Competencies
  • Advanced skills in required software packages
  • Performs and facilitates execution of administrative activities and procedures for the effective execution of own role
  • Broad conceptual understanding of the integration of processes within supply chain and the total business
