New Investment Program Jobs in Kenya

Abt Associates in Kenya is actively recruiting qualified professionals for a new investment program aimed to promote private sector growth for development gains. 

The program looks to identify small businesses (and larger when applicable) and entrepreneurs to mobilize all forms of capital with technical assistance and transaction advisory services – both by itself and in partnership with other USAID programming – to seed enterprise growth at scale. 

Target sectors of the program include: agriculture, clean energy, nutrition, WASH, regional cross-border trade and other youth and gender oriented activities. 

Work is expected to begin December 2016. 

Abt invites applications from experts and leaders across multiple disciplines. 

Technical areas of expertise are expected to include:

Agriculture Value Chain Development – demonstrated experience in inputs (seed and fertilizer), production and agronomy, financing, post-harvest handling and storage, processing, transport 

Enterprise Marketing – demonstrated experience in commercial operations and marketing, market linkages, agribusiness and business planning, facilitating regional and international trade
 
Investment and Financial Services – demonstrated experience in working with financial institutions (banks, MFIs, equity firms) to develop innovative financial products for the target sectors; creating favorable policy and enabling environments for investment in target sectors
 
Institutional Development – demonstrated experience in assessing organizational capacity using standard tools and analyses, as well as designing and delivering tailored capacity-building programs to SMEs, organizations, businesses and associations in target sectors

Nutrition through Agriculture – demonstrated experience in delivering improved nutritional outcomes through agriculture value chains, designing nutrition-sensitive interventions, behavior change communications, analytical methodologies for evaluating nutritional outcomes, and creating favorable policies supporting improved nutrition

Gender and Youth in Agriculture – demonstrated experience in mainstreaming gender and youth in the target sectors
 
Successful candidates must have university degrees in agriculture, environmental management, business administration, finance, law, economics, communications, health and behavioral or social sciences; as well as a minimum of 8 years of experience in implementing nationally relevant programs in agriculture for government, private businesses or non-governmental organizations.
