The
Mombasa programme coordinator will report to the Generation programme manager
and will be responsible for the end-to-end operation in Mombasa.
He/she
will be the primary point of contact and manager of the delivery partner team
on the ground.
Various
primary processes include recruiting candidates, training delivery partner
staff and Generation students, preparation of new training centres, managing
relationships with employer partners and graduation events.
Responsibilities
Managing
partners
- Being
primary point of contact between Generation Kenya and delivery partner(s).
- Maintain
strong relationships with current employer partners for placement of our
graduates.
- Ensuring
that all regulatory requirements and funder demands are met.
- Monitoring
performance of delivery partner.
Programme
coordination
- Preparing
training centres by ensuring the readiness of all classroom materials
(e.g. computers, chairs, boards), utilities (e.g. electricity, internet,
toilets), signage etc. before the start of each program. This also includes
identifying new training centres as we scaleup in the coast region.
- Overseeing
the planning and execution of mobilisation from advertisements (print and
social media), to information sessions and literacy/numeracy exams,
conducting student interviews, and registering students.
- Training/management
of centre staff – ensuring staff (coaches, teaching assistants) are
prepared before program begins, assisting them in solving problems,
organising weekly staff meetings.
- Coordinating
logistics of day-to-day running of programs: coordinate, prepare, and
distribute program schedule and materials to instructors, mentors and
students.
- Scheduling
and managing employer presentations for candidates, organizing employer
interview days, and coordinating with employers once job placements have
been made. This also includes re-placing students with new employers in
exceptional circumstances e.g. employer restructuring or lay-offs.
- Maintaining
database with student information and program records.
- Solving
for consistent programme and process improvement.
- Additional
responsibilities as programme scales as defined by programme manager.
- Oversee
student’s transition to full time employment with local employment
partners.
- Continuously
look for opportunities where process efficiency gains can be made and
implement solutions, after agreed upon with MSI team, including automation
/ technology solutions.
Mindsets
& Experience
- Bachelor’s
degree.
- 2-4
years of direct supervisory management experience.
- Experience
preparing youth for employment.
- Able
to lead interactions and meetings with employer partners.
- “Do-er”
mindset, with a passion for constant motion, moving from centre to centre.
- Well-developed
sense of attention to detail.
- Interest
in working in a fast growing organization and being an integral part of
aggressive scale.
- A
positive, solutions-oriented attitude, drive for excellence, and ability
to be a team player.
- Self-starter
and strong track record of ability to work independently.
- Self-reflective,
open to frequent feedback and ability to give constructive feedback.
- Candidates
residing in Mombasa most preferred.
Job
Type:
Full-time position with an expected start date of 1 June 2016.
The expected minimum duration is 12 months, with a strong possibility to continue.
Probation period is three months.
