ACTED
Kenya is looking for experienced self driven and self oriented professional to
fill the following posts;
1.
Regional Logistics & Security Manager
Under
the authority of the Country Director, some of her/his specific duties will
include:
- Dealing
with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures in
relation to security.
- Developing
and enforcing security procedures and regulations in both Kenya and
Somalia
- Train
ACTED staff members in the region as well as partners in security rules
and procedures.
- Perform
regional procurements the entire Horn Of Africa including countries with
little knowledge of English eg Central Africa Republic, Democratic
Republic of Congo etc
- Ensure
training and capacity building for the Logistics team members in the
entire region in order to increase the level of technical ability and
skills within the department;
- Facilitating
on-the-job training for specifics of ACTED’s Security and Logistics team
members who will take up his roles after his departure
- Develop
relevant management procedures within the team;
- Perform
other relevant duties.
Requested
Profile
- Master
Level education in a relevant field such as International Relations or
Development
- Extensive
security management experience (management, planning, staff development
and training skills) in environment with unstable security e.g. (Somalia).
- Must
be proficient in French to enable easy flow of communication with French
speaking countries in the Region e.g CAR,DRC
- At
least 2-3 years of working experience in insecure environments; preferably
in Africa, Asia, or the Middle East;
- Extensive
experience in logistics and security management and procedures;
- Demonstrated
communication and organizational skills;
- Ability
to train, mobilize, and manage both international and national staff
- Flexibility
and ability to multi-task under pressure;
- Ability
to work well in unstable and frequently changing security environments;
- Willingness
to work and live in often remote areas under basic conditions;
- Proven
ability to work creatively and independently both in the field and in the
office;
- Knowledge
of local language and/or regional experience highly desirable
2.
Regional AME Manager
The
Regional AME manager is responsible for developing tools for appraisal,
monitoring and evaluation in-country as well as in the region.
Under
the authority of the Country Director, some of her/his specific duties will
include:
1.
Project Cycle Management
- Develop
a PCM guide, incl. tools and procedures to be used in Kenya, Somalia and
entire Region.
- Train
the staff to use the PCM guide and related tools and procedures;
2.
Information System
- Work
with all departments to follow up project and programmes databases incl.
work on the nomenclature used (official names etc.);
3.
Participatory Appraisal, Monitoring and Evaluation
- Ensure
that local partners engaged in appraisal for and/or with ACTED are trained
and given advice in participatory approaches, minimalizing bias, and other
key methodologies for information gathering;
4.
Departmental Follow-up
- Manage
the AME staff in cooperation with Area Coordinators and Programme
Managers;
Requested
Profile
- Excellent
academic qualifications, including a Master degree in International
Relations or relevant discipline;
- Excellent
analytical skills of qualitative, quantitative and geo-spatial data
- More
than 7 years of relevant working experience in humanitarian settings; At
least 3 years of working experience in insecure environments; preferably
in Africa, Asia, or the Middle East;
- Excellent
communication and drafting skills for effective reporting;
- Excellent
team management skills;
- Ability
to operate in a cross-cultural environment requiring flexibility;
- Familiarity
with the aid system, and understanding of donor and governmental
requirements;
- Prior
knowledge of the region an asset
