Position: 
Business Development Officers
 
Reporting to: Branch Manager
 
Other Relationships: Marketing, Credit, Customer Service, HR, Finance & IT

Job Description Summary: You will be responsible for managing business development in a designated territory;  Gaining new clients as well as maintaining existing ones, development of new loans, prompt payment of loans, design and implement control measures and monitoring plans for compliance and operation risk management.


Roles and Responsibilities
  • Development of new loan with a weekly target Achieve volume and Value targets in order to contribute to the overall goals of the MFI.
  • Building a sound relationship with company business partners, vendors and Customers.
  • Creating new business opportunities( seek new clients)
  • Loan assessment, appraisals and approvals
  • Develop a good marketing plan for the company’s products and business.
  • Ensure prompt loan repayments’ and recoveries.
  • Creation of financial projections for growth and profitability.
  • Track and analyze micro finance & economic trends and make any recommendation to the MFI
  • Analyze applicant’s financial status, credit and property evaluations to determine feasibility of granting loans.
  • Review and update credit/loan files
  • Liaison with other service providers
  • Gathering marketing intelligence
  • Analyze potential loan markets and develop referral networks in order to locate loans.
Minimum qualifications, experience & competencies required:
  • Min of Diploma in a business related field.
  • Experience in a similar position in a reputable micro finance institution or a bank is a must
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, tact and discretion when dealing with people and records.
  • High integrity and dependability.
  • Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships in a multi-functional environment.
  • Strong presentation skills including excellent oral communication skills, passion to make yourself understood and engaging in a pleasant way.
Position: Unit Managers
 
Reporting to: Credit Operations Manager

Job Description Summary: Reporting to the Credit Operations Manager, The Unit Manager through teamwork will be responsible for business growth, service delivery, compliance and ensuring efficient day-to-day operations of the branch. 

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Growing and managing a quality loan portfolio.
  • Preparation and implementation of annual branch budgets and business development plans.
  • Achievement of branch profitability and cost control objectives
  • Promotion & marketing of the Institution’s products and services
  • Enforce implementation of laid down policies and procedures for Credit operations and staff discipline.
  • Monitor loan assessment, appraisal and approvals at the branch
  • Ensure loan repayments and recoveries are within stipulated timelines and as per policy guidelines.
  • Ensure supervision, appraisal, coaching, motivation and development of all branch staff and recommending appropriate training needs.
  • Working with third party service providers to deliver superior service to all customers.
  • Marketing intelligence and reporting to understand competitor activity in the assigned area.
  • Ensure provision of high quality services to all customers in a timely manner.
  • Manage relationship with all stakeholders to ensure positive image of the institution is maintained.
Minimum qualification and experience required:
  • Diploma/Degree in business/Finance/Social Science related field. An MBA is an added advantage.
  • Lending and relationship management experience to create a balance between credit risk and customer service.
  • At least three (3) years’ experience as a branch/unit manager in credit function of a financial institution handling Micro and SME clients.
  • Have an excellent interpersonal, organizing and people management skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with outstanding reporting skills.
  • High integrity and professionalism.
Position: Debt Collection Officer
 
Reporting to: Finance Manager
 
Other Relationships: Marketing, Credit, Customer Service, HR, Finance & IT
 
Role Profile: The Credit Operations Officer – Your will be responsible for end to end collections and recoveries for unsecured debt as well as initiating legal action on secured debt. 

This is a varied role and you will need to have a good understanding of litigation. 

You will work closely with a small professional, but fun team in an engaging culture with low turnover. You will be pro-active with your ability to solve problems and look at issues holistically. 

There are also opportunities for career progression in this role.

Key Responsibilities;
  • Initiate legal action (default notices) where necessary for both secured and unsecured debt.
  • Complete legal action on all unsecured debt.
  • Liaison with our vendors.
  • Arrange payment of all invoices not limited to property consultants, Lawyers, Accountants, Valuers
  • Responsible for outsourcing written off files to external collections agencies
  • Responsible for payment and maintaining register of all payments made by external collections agencies
  • To be successful in this role you will have proven collections/recoveries experience ideally from the banking/Micro finance industry. Further, your skills will include:
  • Experience in early stage collections– secured and unsecured debts
  • Sound knowledge of industry changes and legislative requirements
  • Ability to manage complex business banking customer connections on a day to day basis
  • Strong negotiation and customer service skills
  • Driving both Vehicles and motor bikes
  • Strong data entry and high attention to detail
  • Ensure excellent customer service delivery and customer delight in all Branches.
Minimum qualifications, experience & competencies required:
  • Diploma in Business Management, Administration or Social Science from a reputable University.
  • Fully conversant with micro-credit and SME lending in the Kenyan business environment. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, tact and discretion when dealing with people and records.
  • Demonstrable People Management experience in a lending environment.  
  • High integrity and dependability.
  • Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships in a multi-functional environment.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a Credit collection position gained from a Banking or Financial Institution with demonstrable ability in providing guidance in all areas of credit operations including processes, systems & models.
  • Strong presentation skills including excellent oral communication skills, passion to make yourself understood and engaging in a pleasant way.
  • People Management skills a must.
