Senior
Accountant
Based
in the Nairobi Country Office the Senior Accountant plays a significant role in
strengthening of core global systems by ensuring proper accounting and
reporting of resources in project implementation, maintaining systems of
accountability, processing of accounting information, internal and external
financial reporting including project donor financial reporting for grants that
include USAID funds, cash and bank account maintenance and other key financial
tasks.
Reporting
to the Director of Finance you will be responsible for:
- Production
of accurate and timely project budget monitoring and donor financial
reports for multiple projects including USAID grants.
- Preparation
of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
- Performing
analytical review of General ledger accounts and reconciling balance sheet
accounts including project and staff advance reconciliations.
- Preparation
of Payroll and updating of payroll deductions in I-tax while ensuring
proper tax computation and timely submission
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s
degree in accounting or related field, obtained from a recognized institution,
plus five (5) years of demonstrated experience in a senior accounting position
preferably in the NGO sector.
Preferred Requirements: CPA II or ACCA or CIMA or equivalent accounting certification and experience in donor project reporting and accounting.
