It also runs regional specialist units that provide support and expertise to the ICRC’s delegations in East Africa, the Great Lakes region and the Horn of Africa.
 
Deputy Head of Security
 

(Position open to Kenyan Nationals)
 
ICRC is seeking to engage a trustable and reliable candidate to join its security unit at Nairobi, Regional Delegation, demonstrating following qualities;
  • A proactive individual with high level of integrity.
  • Sound and verifiable security background with related experience in the humanitarian sector.
  • Experience in military and police would be an added advantage.
This position reports to the Head of Security and given the nature of the job, role requires the candidate to exhibit the following;
  • Extensive knowledge of the area with an ability to analyse situations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and at irregular hours.
  • Ability to efficiently respond to emergencies.
  • Ability to liaise with police and other law enforcing agencies.
  • Ability to confidently represent ICRC in court cases.
Role’s description:
  • Under the supervision of Head of Security assist in implementing security rules.
  • Monitor and ensure unit’s preparedness to respond to security situations at ICRC delegation and residences.
  • Ensure serviceability of security surveillance equipment and firefighting equipment through regular controls and periodic testing.
  • Participate in investigations, relating to fraud, accidents, loss of ICRC property and develop necessary reports.
  • Carry out security admin duties in the unit and any additional tasks as instructed by the management.
  • Collect security related information and ensure its timely dissemination.
  • Supervise security officers and officiating as Head of Security in his absence
Requirements:
  • University degree.
  • Diploma in criminal investigations or related studies and trainings.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the forces, having attained a supervisory rank or 10 years of experience in a similar function in a humanitarian organization (INGO or corporate entity).
  • Computer literate.
  • Valid driving license (for manual and automatic transmission).
  • Verifiable certificate of good conduct.

The ICRC Somalia delegation in Nairobi is seeking for an experienced and motivated person to fill the position of:
 
Economic Security Information Management Assistant – Nairobi

EcoSec Information Management Assistant (IM Assistant) works under the direct supervision of the Economic Security Program Manager and is responsible primarily for the management of the program statistical data based on the internal tools and procedures, formulation of the monthly statistical reports, including other statistical reports when required 

In general, his/her duties require 70% of time on the statistical data entries/processing and 30% on secretarial duties respectively.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Compiles/centralizes and updates the statistical data from the field concerning all EcoSec interventions on a monthly basis,
  • Maintains regular exchange with Economic Security(EcoSec) Project Managers and Field Officers’s on the monthly statistical reporting and provides support in this regard as required,
  • Acts as a focal person for and manages independently the EcoSec Programme Management Tool database for Somalia,
  • Maintains regular exchange with other team members concerning day-to-day use of EcoSec Programme Management Tool (creates new records: beneficiaries, distribution plans, orders),
  • Creates requisition orders(Ros) as required and liaises with the respective EcoSec and Logistics staff to ensure proper and timely formulation and follow up of the requisition orders,
  • Maintains regular exchange with the reporting officers from the UN food security and shelter clusters concerning the monthly statistical updates by using the mutually agreed formats,
  • Under the supervision of Economic Security Program Manager, formulates Economic Security monthly statistical reports and shares them internally and with the Water and Habitat GIS Officer to ensure timely production of the projects/ program maps,
  • Keeps files up-to-date at all times such as contracts with local partner NGO’s, field consultants, including the electronic file of EcoSec statistical,
  • When required, trains and coaches the Economic Security team in Somalia, including delegates, on the use of the EPMT software and travels to the field offices to deploy the tool.
Minimum requirements
  • Possess a Diploma/Degree in Economics, Social Sciences, Business Administration or similar fields,
  • 4 years work experience in a similar field,
  • Fluent in written and spoken English,
  • Excellent skills in information and database management,
  • Excellent skills in data entry and processing with Microsoft Excel and other office applications,
  • Very good computer skills in general,
  • Very good communication skills,
  • Knowledge of Somali language is an asset,
  • Knowledge of basic GIS functions is an asset.
