University is in the process of introducing a Commercial Dairytech Farm and
seeks to recruit competent and dedicated applicants to fill up the following
positions:
i.
Assistant Farm Manager - Animal Nutrition and Feeds
Qualifications:
- KCE
Division II/KCSE Mean Grade C+ (Plus) and above
- Bachelors
Degree in Animal Nutrition / Animal Production / Animal Sciences from a
recognized university
- At
least two (2) years practical experience in feed technology / animal feed
ration formulation
- Computer
literate
ii. Assistant Farm Manager - Crops Section
Qualifications:
- KCE
Division II/KCSE Mean Grade C+ (Plus) and above
- Bachelors
Degree in Agriculture / Agronomy / related field from a recognized
university
- At
least two (2) years work experience in field and green house, crop
production or crop husbandry
- Computer
literate
- Professional
qualification in crop husbandry will be an added advantage
iii. Technical Assistant – Inseminator
Qualifications:
- KCE
Division III/KCSE Mean Grade C (Plain) and above
- Diploma
in Animal Health Management with Certificate in Artificial Insemination
(AI) from a recognized institution
- At
least two (2) years relevant work experience
- Computer
literate
Duties:
- Work
closely with the Veterinarian to ensure timely insemination of the animals
on heat
- Ensure
adequate and high quality semen is procured and stored well
- Assist
the Veterinarian in detecting animals on heat
- Other
duties as may be allocated by the Farm Veterinarian
iv. Technical Assistant - Feeds
Qualifications:
- KCE
Division III/KCSE Mean Grade C (Plain) and above
- Diploma
in Animal Production from a recognized institution
- At
least two (2) years work experience in a large dairy farm
- Computer
literate
Duties:
- Work
closely with the Nutrition and Feed Centre Manager
- Coordinate
the feeding of the various groups of animals within the farm
- Ensure
proper storage of feed within the feed centre
- Prepare
rations in conjunction with Feed Centre Manager
v. Milker
Qualifications:
- KCE
Division IV/ KCSE Mean Grade D (Plain) and above
- Certificate
in Animal Production/Animal Health/Dairy Technology from a recognized
institution
- At
least one (1) year experience in milking
Duties:
- Proper
milking of the animals
- Cleanliness
of the milking parlour
- Maintain
hygiene within the milking parlour
vi. Tractor Driver
Qualifications:
- KCE
Division IV/KCSE mean Grade D (Plain) and above
- Valid
driving License Class BCDE and a stamp for driving tractors with a clean
driving record
- At
least five (5) years continuous driving experience
- Valid
Certificate of Good Conduct from the Criminal Investigation Department
(CID)
- Excellent
communication skills
- Ability
to operate a tractor drawn farming equipment
- Knowledge
of the traffic act and other related regulations
- Certificate
of vehicle mechanics/maintenance and repair will be an added advantage
Terms of Service: The
successful candidate will be offered two (2) years renewable performance-based
contract and a generous remuneration.
