Job Title: Underwriting Executive - Agribusiness
 
Division / Department: Underwriting
 
Immediate Supervisor: Assistant General Manager - Underwriting
 
Overall Responsibility: The position is responsible for assessing Agribusiness risks in accordance with laid down underwriting procedures in the organization and to ensure effective and efficient service delivery to our clients.

Key Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
  • Identifying, analyzing, developing new agriculture insurance products
  • Preparing and implementing marketing strategy for agriculture insurance business
  • Grow and develop the agribusiness class of business as per the assigned targets
  • Manage the risk portfolio and claims ratios of the agribusiness class of business
  • Carry out market visits to clients, intermediaries and Branches
  • Advising Management on matters related to agriculture insurance business
  • Establish market trends regarding products, rates and service standards
  • Facilitate the processing of new and renewal business in the System
  • Form Business Partnerships and collaborations to grow the agribusiness portfolio
  • Accurate and timely assessment of losses and advising the claims department when claims are reported
  • Training staff in Underwriting, risk and claims departments’ on the aspects of agriculture insurance
  • Any other duties assigned by the supervisor from time to time
Requirements
  • A bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or agribusiness management from a recognized university
  • Pass in at least two papers in AIIK / CII or equivalent
  • At least 2 years relevant work experience

Job Title: Claims Supervisor
 
Division / Department: Claims
 
Immediate Supervisor: Assistant Manager - Claims
 
Overall Responsibility: The position is responsible for opening new claims and processing of non-legal Claims in line with the company policy.
 
Key Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
  • Open and acknowledge new claims
  • Appoint service providers within the set benchmarks, review their reports and process claims as necessary.
  • Initiate recovery from negligent third parties and promptly hand file to Legal Section for follow ups.
  • Ensure payment to policyholders and service providers within stipulated company benchmarks.
  • Maintain registers and adequate claims reserves.
  • Respond to correspondence and/or queries relating to claims falling under area of responsibility.
  • Make recommendations on settlements of claims falling under area of responsibility.
  • Prepare claims reports e.g. monthly theft report, monthly salvage report and any other reports which may be required from time to time.
  • Deputize the Assistant Claims Manager.
  • Perform any other duties as required from time to time.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Pass in at least five ACII papers or equivalent
  • Four years relevant experience

Job Title: Finance & Administration Manager
 
Division / Department: Finance & Strategy
 
Immediate Supervisor: GM – Finance & Strategy
 
Overall Responsibility: The position will be responsible for all aspects of financial and administration management and their impact on company objectives, the preparation of financial reports, optimum utilization of the company resources, investment activities, compliance with regulatory requirements and implementing cash management strategies to meet the company business objectives.

Key Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
  • Facilitate the development and maintenance of appropriate financial systems, policies, standards and procedures.
  • Revenue and cost management
  • Facilitate the preparation of budgets and financial plans of the company and overseeing strict adherence to the budgets and plans.
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions and compliance with international accounting standards and other relevant regulations.
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts and reports for management’s review and presentation to the board and regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure all company debts are timeously paid and corrective action taken on non performing debts
  • Coordinating the annual auditing process, ensuring implementation of audit recommendations and ensuring effective internal controls.
  • Manage cash inflows and outflows to ensure optimum levels of liquidity and investments.
  • Ensuring a safe working environment and property management
  • Periodic review of policies and procedures to ensure their relevance to the business strategy and changing organizational needs.
  • Lead the cost management committee.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements
  • A bachelor’s degree in commerce or equivalent
  • CPA(K) or equivalent
  • 7 years’ relevant experience, 3 of which should be at a Manager level and above
Competencies
  • Must have strong communication skills
  • Must have expertise in financial statement analysis, investment valuation, corporate governance, auditing, regulatory requirements and industry practices

Job Title: Senior Executive – Strategy Monitoring & Evaluation
 

Division / Department: Finance & Strategy
 
Immediate Supervisor: GM – Finance & Strategy
 
Overall Responsibility: Reporting to the GM – Finance & Strategy, the Senior Executive – Strategy Monitoring & Evaluation will be responsible for all monitoring and reporting aspects of strategy, including routine data collection, data quality assurance, analysis and reporting.

Key Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review and recommend improvements to existing business strategies, business plans, policies and procedures
  • Formulates feasible recommendations to the management on how to optimize profitability
  • Develops business plans that support and introduce solutions for strategic issues that impact the company
  • Conducts organizational reviews to identify strengths, weaknesses and opportunities
  • Evaluates the operational efficiency of the entire workforce
  • Provides support to identify and assess strategic issues
  • Ensures implementation of strategic initiatives
  • Identifies, analyses, and monitors issues that affect profitability, growth, and productivity.

Requirements

  • 5 Years Work Experience with 2 Years in a similar role

Overall Responsibility: The position is responsible for ensuring there is an efficient claims management process in Claims Department (Non-Legal section) to the expected quality standards and within the Company’s service level benchmarks. 

Specific focus will be efficient and effective management of claims in respect of the set budget as well as efficiency.
 
Key Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure applicable claims are reported accurately and timely to reinsurance Section as required by procedure.
  • Verify claim facts, determine policy coverage and review insurance contracts.
  • Ensure in-depth, investigation of actual claims through direct or indirect contact with policyholders, claimants, investigators, attorneys, etc.
  • Ensure all claims reported are processed expeditiously, within the company’s performance benchmarks.
  • Recommend for approval appropriate reserves on files within the set guidelines and monitor the utilization of the distributed reserve.
  • Coordinate efforts among staff and other parties to achieve timely, equitable disposition of claims handled in the Claims Department.
  • Review performance of service providers, and advise management where corrective action is required.
  • Prepare for management, reports on outstanding claims, on weekly, monthly and annual basis, or as may be required from time to time.
  • Review, monitor and provide technical expertise to staff and ensure that there is systematic and adequate on job training.
  • Monitor benchmarks and have working knowledge of Expense and Payment controls, Large Losses, Staffing and Performance Management.

Job Title: Assistant Manager – Credit Control

Overall Responsibility: The position is responsible for timely preparation of accurate monthly credit statements, credit control operations to ensure prompt collection of trade debts, minimization of credit risk and adherence to credit policy for company profitability and growth.

Key Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure that brokers / agents observe the statutory credit period; collect all premiums due.
  • Scrutinize and dispatch monthly premium statements to all brokers, agents and direct clients, latest by the 10th of the following month. 
  • Handle correspondence from brokers, agents and insurance companies relating to premium collection.
  • Processing commission to agents and withholding tax to the Income Tax Department on a regular basis and within the statutory limit.
  • Liaise with underwriters on matters relating to premium collection and account reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly reports relating to debt collection and liaise with our legal debt collectors where debt collection has been referred to them.
  • Ensure that returns required by various authorities are submitted as required.
  • Propose changes to the current computerized system and follow up with it to ensure that the approved changes are implemented.
  • Produce a monthly report for discussion by the credit committee.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements
  • A business related degree from a recognized university
  • CPA (K) or equivalent.
  • 5 years’ relevant working experience, 3 of which has been at supervisory level.
Competencies
  • Ability to reconcile complex accounts and have excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to establish and maintain good client relationships, both internally and externally at all levels
  • Calm, confident and able to handle potentially uncomfortable conversations.
