OUP East Africa is seeking to recruit a high calibre, results-oriented and highly skilled professional to the position of Marketing Manager.
 
Summary of the Position: Reporting to the Sales and Marketing Manager, the Marketing Manager’s role will be to effectively implement marketing strategies and plans for the OUP brand and titles.


Key duties and responsibilities
  • Creating awareness of the OUP brand and titles through suitable marketing strategies and channels.
  • Pursuing opportunities for directly interacting and engaging with customers.
  • Supporting the OU PEA business through effective corporate communications.
  • Maintaining productive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • The ideal candidate will support teamwork, demonstrate a spirit of competitiveness, lead and motivate as well as promote a healthy organisational culture.
Minimum educational requirements, work experience and skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Marketing or Communications.
  • 5 years Marketing or Communications management experience.
  • Knowledge of the educational publishing industry, event coordination, agency processes and project management.

Science Editor

Summary of the position: This is a position responsible for developing, planning and project managing a strong list of market-oriented Science titles that achieve market approval and sales to meet the strategic objectives of OUPEA. 

The Science Editor will be tasked with mentoring other editors, and project managing an allocated number of titles that will help grow the Science lists from ECDE through Secondary school levels.

Key duties and responsibilities

The Science Editor will develop comprehensive, high quality educational teaching materials for both learners and teachers to appropriate markets. 

The Editor will also conduct market research and incorporate findings into new and existing products.
 
The Science Editor will build strong relationships with key stakeholders in the education sector and authors; providing guidance during the development of publications that offer innovative solutions to learners and teachers and which will grow a profitable business for OUPEA.

Knowledge, skills and abilities

The position requires a relevant Bachelor's degree preferably in Education with a major in Biology / Chemistry combined with at least three years relevant publishing experience. 


The ideal candidate should have at least two years experience in project planning and management of own titles from conceptualization to pre-press. 

Teaching experience, with a proven track record of consistent high performance, will be an added advantage.

In addition, the individual must demonstrate a thorough understanding and knowledge of the dynamics of the Education systems and markets in East Africa.

Senior Science Editor

The Senior CRE Editor will be tasked with mentoring other editors, and project managing an allocated number of titles that will help grow the CRE lists from ECDE through Secondary school levels.

The senior CRE Editor will provide leadership to a team of editors in developing comprehensive, high quality educational teaching materials for both learners and teachers to appropriate markets. 

The senior Editor will also conduct market research and incorporate findings into new and existing products.

The Senior CRE Editor will build strong relationships with key stakeholders in the education sector and authors; providing guidance during the development of publications that offer innovative solutions to learners and teachers and which will grow a profitable business for OUPEA.

Knowledge, skills and abilities

The position requires a relevant Bachelor's degree preferably in Education with a major in Philosophy and Religious Studies combined with at least three years relevant publishing experience. 

The ideal candidate should have at least two years experience in project planning and management of own titles from conceptualization to pre-press. 

Teaching experience, with a proven track record of consistent high performance, will be an added advantage.

In addition, the individual must demonstrate a thorough understanding and knowledge of the dynamics of the Education systems and markets in East Africa.

Senior Mathematics Editor

Summary of the position: This is a position responsible for developing, planning and project managing a strong list of market-oriented Mathematics titles that achieve market approval and sales to meet the strategic objectives of OUPEA. 

The Senior Mathematics Editor will be tasked with mentoring other editors, and project managing an allocated number of titles that will help grow the Mathematics lists from ECDE through Secondary school levels.

Key duties and responsibilities


The senior Mathematics Editor will provide leadership to a team of editors in developing comprehensive, high quality educational teaching materials for both learners and teachers to appropriate markets. 

The senior Editor will also conduct market research and incorporate findings into new and existing products.

The Senior Mathematics Editor will build strong relationships with key stakeholders in the education sector and authors; providing guidance during the development of publications that offer innovative solutions to learners and teachers and which will grow a profitable business for OUPEA.
