The
Women’s Rights Awareness Programme (WRAP)
Women's Rights Awareness Programme (WRAP) is a national, non-governmental {NGO}, non-profit, human rights organization that exists to identify and educate the community on the causes and effects of gender violence and child abuse, and to offer services that address the needs of abused and violated women and children.
WRAP is looking for a Project Coordinator and is inviting applications
from qualified candidates.Women's Rights Awareness Programme (WRAP) is a national, non-governmental {NGO}, non-profit, human rights organization that exists to identify and educate the community on the causes and effects of gender violence and child abuse, and to offer services that address the needs of abused and violated women and children.
Qualities and Competencies include and are not limited to:
- Good
knowledge of and exposure in resource mobilization.
- Good
knowledge of law, preferably an advocate of the high court of Kenya.
- Proven
ability to establish and maintain effective networks including
governmental representatives, international organizations and NGOs, to
work in collaboration with various actors having competing agendas, to
maintain contact with many actors in several countries, to cooperate with
governments on matters related to good practices and the promotion and
protection of the rights of women and children, and to facilitate
collaboration between stakeholders.
- Highly
motivated, sense of leadership and supervisions skills to guide the work
of experts, partners, staff and volunteers.
- Passionate,
committed and good understanding on children and women’s rights.
- Strong
research and analytical skills, ability to apply monitoring and evaluation
techniques related to women empowerment, including data collection and
management, analyses and publication of solid reports;
- Strong
communication skills, both orally and in writing.
- Ability
to work with minimum supervision, establish priorities, plan work
assignments, and meet deadlines;
- Professional
judgment, responsibility, flexibility and ability to exercise discretion
with regard to sensitive and confidential information;
- Good
interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic
environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
- A
team player and a passion and commitment to empowering women
socially, economically and legally.
Responsibilities and typical tasks
- Resource
mobilization; planning, writing, reviewing, and presenting project
proposals, formal applications to potential donors. Experience in
corporate fundraising will be an asset.
- Provide
effective leadership and establish operational priorities and monitor
performance targets for the respective ongoing projects.
- Direct
the successful implementation of ongoing projects and supervise project
activities and collaboration with target community groups and stakeholders
- Ensure
that accurate and timely financial and narrative reports are prepared and
issued to the Board and relevant donors.
- Set
and continually manage project expectations with team members and other
stakeholders.
- Contribute
to organizing and facilitating various meetings regarding the project;
- Proactively
manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise
contingency plans.
- Develop
training manuals on various issues related to women empowerment and child
protection.
- Organize
workshops/ seminars, to document and share the acquired expertise with
partners;
- Perform
other relevant duties as requested.
Education
A university degree, preferably in Law, Project Management, International Development and/or International Relations. A combination of relevant academic qualifications and extensive experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience
At least 3 years experience in project management in an NGO setting, including at least 2 years in monitoring and reporting.
