Staff Retirement Benefits Scheme & KenGen Defined Contribution Scheme
(2012) are pension schemes for employees working for Kenya Electricity
Generating Company Limited.
They
are registered schemes with RBA. The core business of the schemes is to provide
pension and other retirement benefits to its members and beneficiaries.
The
schemes seek to fill a vacant position of CEO &
Trust Secretary.
Job
Summary: The
CEO & Trust Secretary will be responsible for ensuring that the Scheme
complies with the Relevant legislation and the Terms of Authorization issued by
RBA by establishing procedures for the sound governance of the Schemes and
advising the Board of Trustees on developments in governance issues.
Duties
and Responsibilities
- Responsible
for overall leadership and management of the Fund. This task involves;
directing, coordinating, and controlling all functions of the Fund.
- Ensuring
that the Fund operates efficiently meeting its performance targets
overseeing performance management.
- Ensuring
ethical and good corporate governance practices including operational and
controls, compliance with regulatory provisions and best practices.
- Developing
and implementing an effective strategic plan in consultation with the
Board of Trustees and other stakeholders/advisers.
- Providing
effective and efficient communication between Fund and stakeholders;
- Acts
as the Secretary to the Board.
- Accountable
for performance of all service providers. This task involves reviewing and
auctioning on reports and various functions.
- Keeping
up to date any developments in retirement benefits legislation and
procedures which may affect the Fund Administration; and
- Undertaking
any other duties as may be assigned by the Board of Trustees from time to
time.
The ideal candidate should
- Have
a degree in B.Com, B.A in Economics, Business Administration or any other
business related Degree
- A
Masters degree will be an added advantage
- Be
a Member of a professional body
- Be
Computer literate
- Have
Ten (10) years working experience from a financial institution or any
other corporate institution with at least four (4) years at a senior
management position in pension industry;
- In
addition to the above, the ideal candidate should possess

leadership skills with a high sense of maturity.
3. Good
planning & organizational skills;
4. High
level of integrity, responsibility & confidentiality.
5. High
sense of self-drive and business acumen.
