Senior Registrars

These are competitive full time positions and the successful candidates will be responsible for managing cases in their respective disciplines leading to specialist recognition by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board. 

Cross cutting duties include:
  • Patient evaluation.
  • Undertaking clinical procedures and examinations.
  • Carrying out ward rounds with Consultants.
  • Enhancing evidence based practice.
  • Championing continuous quality improvement in clinical practise and service delivery.
  • Participating in research,developing clinical protocols and facilitating CME.
  • Mentoring medical officers and medical students in the clinics and wards.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • Masters of Medicine in any of the listed specialist areas.
  • Registration by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board.

Health & Safety Officer

REF/HSO/01/16
 
Reporting to the Head, Human Resources, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following amongst others:
  • Championing and promoting occupational health and safety programs
  • Carrying out risk assessments and training
  • Facilitating compliance with statutory and Hospital safety requirements.
  • Promoting and disseminating good practice across the Hospital on health and safety matters.
  • Advising line managers and other persons involved in planning, organising, controlling and maintaining a safe and healthy environment for work
  • Steer the development and implementation of the Hospital’s health & safety policies and procedures.
  • Secretary to the Occupational Health and Safety Committee.
  • Ensure that the Hospital has an adequate number of trained emergency marshals.
  • Plan and oversee internal emergency preparedness programs and test the adequacy of emergency preparedness.
  • Coordinate the investigation of near misses, accidents and dangerous occurrences and develop appropriate recommendations to reduce recurrence or mitigate impact.
  • Ensure that OHS claims are lodged in a timely manner with DOHSS and insurers.
  • Maintain a system for recording, reporting and investigating injuries, accidents and dangerous occurrences in Hospital’s premises.
  • Provide statistical summaries and draw attention to significant trends and occurrences
  • Facilitate effective induction and training programs are carried out for staff on OHS matters.
  • Participate in ensuring that equipment purchased meet the safety standards
  • Ensure Fire Arrangements are maintained in good order and fire drills are carried out on
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelors’ degree in environment, health and safety or any other degree plus specialized professional qualifications in health and safety.
  • At least 5 years work experience in health and safety.
  • Knowledge of the health sector and implementation experience of OSHAS 18001 or similar standards is an added advantage.
  • Solid advisory skills.
  • Detail oriented and conscientious.
  • Effective organizational skills.
  • Excellent report writing skills.
