The International Committee of the
Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent organisation with the
exclusively humanitarian mission to protect the lives and dignity of victims of
war and internal violence and to provide them with assistance.
The ICRC’s Regional Delegation in
Nairobi co-ordinates the institution’s humanitarian activities in Kenya,
Tanzania and Djibouti.
It also runs regional specialist
units that provide support and expertise to the ICRC’s delegations in East
Africa, the Great Lakes region and the Horn of Africa.
The ICRC Regional Delegation in
Nairobi is seeking for an experienced and highly motivated person to fill the
resident position mentioned below to be based in Nairobi.
Senior Assistant Learning and Development
(LND)
The Key Responsibilities:
- Ensures a smooth functioning of all LnD
Nairobi organized events and programs, and a seamless follow up of all LnD
Nairobi related administrative and logistic questions;
- Team Management: Is responsible for managing
one secretary, including setting objectives, assessing performance,
coaching and mentoring, supervising and delegating tasks;
- Responsible for handling all back-office tasks
related to the smooth running of all LnD Nairobi training activities,
including liaison with ICRC representations throughout Africa and beyond;
- Assists trainers with all issues related to
the organization of courses and the venues;
- Occasionally assists trainers in running
training sessions abroad, according to need;
- Contributes to the drafting process of the
PfR;
- Independently synthesizes and edits evaluation
forms;
- Submits a draft of the quarterly activity
report to the head of unit.
The Requirements:
- University degree or equivalent in
administration of secretariat;
- 4 Years work experience in a similar field;
- Fluent in written and spoken English, good
command of written and spoken French would be of added value;
- Good communication skills, including drafting
of complex texts in English;
- Confirmed planner and organizer;
- Availability for regular travels in the region
and beyond, including irregular working hours;
- Ability to carry out complex activities in
various field independently.
