Job Title: Harm Reduction Program Coordinator
Starting From: asap (from January 2015)
Country: Kenya

Context of the program
Context of the program
The Kenyan government, with the
support of international stakeholders, has put considerable efforts in
designing effective strategies and implementing targeted interventions for
people who inject drugs.
Early in 2013 the standard operating
procedures for Needle and Syringes exchange program and Medically Assisted
Treatment were signed by the Ministry of Health.
Nevertheless, implementation of these
core targeted interventions remains difficult, underfunded, and lack
stakeholder capacity to be delivered effectively.
Based on this situational analysis,
MdM started a comprehensive program in Nairobi in May 2013, focusing on the slum
areas and the more remote locations of Dagoretti County.
The program benefits not only from
international but also from regional experience and expertise since MdM has
been developing a comprehensive model in Tanzania since 2010.
