The Maasai Mara Wildlife Conservancies Association (MMWCA) is a regional membership organisation whose mission is to conserve the greater Mara ecosystem (outside of the National Reserve) through a network of protected areas - conservancies and conservation areas - for the benefit of wildlife and habitats, the local Mara population and Kenya’s recreation and tourism sector.

MMWCA has the mandate from its Mara-wide conservancies’ membership to source funds and implement programmes that will provide the leadership and coordination to foster a sustainable Mara conservancies’ model through strong representative governance. 

MMWCA is recruiting five positions, for a USAID funded programme: The Effective Biodiversity Conservation and Livelihood Improvement by Community Conservancies in the Maasai Mara Region Program.

1. Communications Officer: Responsible for a broad range of MMWCA communication outputs: print, online, brand, project and advocacy communications. 

S/he will work closely with MMWCA member conservancies, partners and Mara stakeholders.

2. Gender & Sustainability Specialist: As an advocate and champion for gender, age and sustainability, s/he will be responsible for integrating these issues into the MMWCA programme, its management operations and our partnerships, with the overarching aim to increase strong and sustainable results across the programme.

3. Monitoring & Evaluation Officer: Responsible for all programme monitoring and evaluation, developing performance indicators, maintaining the Performance Management Plan, producing annual performance reports and supporting the team to learn from and make decisions based on monitoring and evaluation data.

4. Land Administrator: Responsible for two key activities; 

a) oversee and facilitate the transfer of land registration from agriculture to conservation in coordination with the Mara conservancies and;

b) to develop a land loan program through a neutral entity. 

A strong legal understanding, knowledge and experience of land issues in Kenya is required.

5. Conservation Area Project Manager: To manage the development of a new Conservation Area in the Maasai Mara. The individual will be responsible for working with all stakeholders in the local region, overseeing the land use and zoning plan, dealing with natural resource related conflicts and securing the biodiversity conservation of the area.
