Studio Systems Engineer
 
Job Ref: HR-SSE-12-2015
 
The Studio Systems Engineer will report to the Technical Manager for Nation Broadcasting Division and will have the responsibility of ensuring quality transmission and reception of Nation Media Group’s radio and television.
Key Responsibilities: Maintenance of specialized audio visual equipment, broadcast servers & software, satellite systems, microwave systems, power and air condition systems that support content generation, processing, aggregation, distribution and transmission. 

These include but are not limited to:
  • Ensuring all broadcasting and transmission equipment are operational at all times;
  • Carrying out design and implementation of new systems to improve broadcasting and transmission quality;
  • Setting up and maintaining studio & link systems required for all outside broadcast and news gathering operations;
  • Installing, configuring and testing new broadcast equipment, systems & facilities;
  • Minimizing risk of service loss at times of equipment failure by rapidly identifying and implementing alternative methods of service provision;
  • Offering operational support to all broadcast systems users across the entire business;
  • Ensuring that the broadcasting division keeps a breast with changing technology and has the most appropriate technology applied at all times;
  • Diagnosis of faulty equipment and repair or make appropriate recommendations;
  • Planning maintenance schedules for all the equipment and ensuring its implementation;
  • Identifying required spares and seeking their approval for purchase;
  • Performing routine checks to ensure all equipment, hardware and software systems employed are fit for purpose.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
  • University graduate in electrical and electronics engineering, telecommunication, broadcasting or related field;
  • Good working knowledge of IP networking. Professional networking qualification will be an added advantage;
  • Good knowledge of transmission systems & mediums - satellite links, microwave links, OFC links, encoding & decoding systems, etc;
  • Proficiency in server & systems administration (Windows 2008 server, Linux, Windows7/8/10 and Mac OS) is essential, professional qualifications here will also be an added advantage;
  • Over 3 years’ experience, relevant experience in media will be an added advantage;
  • Knowledgeable in applying best practice for broadcast communications specifically radio, television and online;
  • Must have excellent analytical skills;
  • Ability and readiness to work long odd hours;
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills;
  • High degree of integrity and dependability.
Broadcast IT Systems Engineer

We seek candidates who are innovative, performance driven and possess excellent transferrable skills with a good track record of achievement in past roles. 

The Broadcast IT Systems Engineer will work with a team of support engineers to provide first and second level technical support services to our internal customers. 

The position reports to the Service Desk Supervisor.
  • Maintaining specialist systems and equipment for audio and video production, broadcast satellite transmission and interactive media;
  • Installing and testing new facilities and equipment;
  • Setting up and operating editing facilities in post-production suites;
  • Analysing and rectifying technical faults on equipment and systems;
  • Minimising loss of service at times of equipment failure by rapidly identifying and implementing alternative methods of service provision;
  • Keeping abreast of constant changes in technology by investigating new systems, techniques and equipment;
  • Maintaining hardware, software and other broadcast technology systems;
  • Interpreting and implementing instructions and requests from Producers, Directors and other colleagues;
  • Communicating effectively with members of one’s own and other teams and project members;
  • Keeping up to date with the industry by building and maintaining a network of contacts.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
  • Undergraduate degree in Information Technology or Electrical or Electronic Engineering;
  • Two years’ experience ¡n a broadcast environment;
  • Knowledge of broadcast systems such as, V1zRT, Final Cut Pro, RCS and Adobe Premier will be an added advantage;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and listening skills;
  • The ability to work ”On-Call” shifts plus night and weekends when needed;
  • MCP, MCITP or CCNA Certifications will be an added advantage.
Accountant

The successful candidate will be responsible for provision of relevant financial information, management accounting reports, data on business performance against budget and ensuring effective controls.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Timely and accurate posting of transactions for preparation of management accounts and statutory accounts;
  • Preparation of periodic revenue & costs highlights;
  • Assist in preparation of budgets and monitoring of the same;
  • Preparation of account reconciliations and follow up of outstanding matters;
  • Preparation of audit schedules.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
  • University degree in Business Management / Accounting;
  • CPA(K);
  • Fully qualified accountant;
  • 4 years’ working experience in a busy commercial environment;
  • Excellent analytical, customer service & interpersonal skills;
  • Strong planning, coordination and supervisory skills;
  • Proactive in developing solutions;
  • Strong computer in Microsoft Office.
Office Administrator 
 
Job Ref: HR-OA-12-2015
 
The Office Administrator will offer administrative support to Finance department and the Group Financial Controller.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Process financial reports and schedules in accordance to the deadlines;
  • Ensure information flow information between GFC Office and the rest of the department by directing external and internal queries to relevant sections;
  • Maintain the filing systems and correspondence;
  • Schedule and follow up on departmental meetings;
  • Coordination/IPR raising for various teams;
  • Monitor milestones and deadlines by following up on appointments and defined objectives;
  • Process financial reports and schedules in accordance to the deadlines;
  • Bring up in December the audit circularization letters-banks, accruals, stock take and others;
  • Follow up on subsidiary matters like loan repayment, dividends and others;
  • Preparation of presentations;
  • Data analysis and preparations;
  • Assist in budget preparations.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
  • A bachelor’s degree;
  • 3 years’ experience;
  • CPA II;
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office;
  • Good interpersonal & organizational skills.
