The holder of this position must combine youthful energy with the required experience, in order to get the insurance company to the next level. 

The person should engage with seniors within the company and at the group level and have the desired meeting of minds. 

The candidate will be someone with experience in all classes of general business.

Overall Responsibility:
 To develop and manage underwriting activities in order to satisfy customers and shareholders’ expectation

Key Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
  • Overseeing the activities of underwriting and reinsurance in the company.
  • Vetting all risks to ensure that only quality business is accepted into the company at acceptable rates.
  • Preparing and maintaining up to date underwriting manual.
  • Ensuring that the risks undertaken by the company are adequately covered through reinsurance programme.
  • Construction of equitable policy contracts and due execution of policies and other accountable documents.
  • Marketing company products and ensuring proper customer service.
  • Supervision, appraisal, training and development of staff in the department.
  • Ensuring timely preparation of management reports.
Qualifications
  • Business Degree from a recognized university
  • ACII
  • Computer literacy
  • 8 years working experience in insurance, 3 of which should have been at management level.
  • Excellent communication, training and people management skills, change management, and good negotiation skills

Our client, an Insurance Company based in Nairobi, is seeking to hire a Human Resource Partner

The successful candidates MUST have prior experience in Human Resource Management and Administration.

Responsibilities
  • Together with other departmental staff, responsible for development, implementation and review of HR Strategies, Policies and Procedures for the Organization so as to achieve efficiency and optimal application of the human resource
  • He/she will implement innovative strategies for timely acquisition of talent to support service delivery
  • Working closely with various departments, increasingly in a consultancy role, assisting line managers to understand and implement policies and procedures.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Maintains human resource staff job results by counseling and disciplining employees; Planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Promoting equality and diversity as part of the culture of the organisation.
  • Recruiting staff - this includes developing job descriptions and person specifications, preparing job adverts, checking application forms, shortlisting, interviewing and selecting candidates.
  • Developing and implementing policies on issues like working conditions, performance management, equal opportunities, disciplinary procedures and absence management.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a tour and travel company will be an advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting is a plus but not a necessity.

Our client, an Insurance Company based in Nairobi, is seeking to hire an IT Manager. 

Overall Responsibility:
 To develop and manage underwriting activities in order to satisfy customers and shareholders’ expectation

Key Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead and motivate the IT core team of the company.
  • Responsible for budgeting, costing and charting out of the Group ICT roadmap and yearly business plans.
  • Responsible for creating and sustaining an environment for uninterrupted information activity in the company.
  • Advisor to management with regards to information technology trends and projects that would assist in leveraging business.
  • Responsible for the smooth functioning of the information technology department with regards to systems, networks and telecommunication for all escalated issues.
  • Support and maintain the organizational enterprise resource planning software including ascertaining database consistency and data integrity.
  • Ensuring proper systems/procedures and controls are in place and correctly implemented in the company.
  • Act as project Manager for new IT related projects; manage all functional and technical aspects, day to day project decisions and timely escalation to project sponsor / senior management.
  • Support all functional departments within the organization, schedule in-house trainings, implementation and roll-out of all software, hardware and networking needs as well as managing & coordinating MIS activities.
  • Evaluation, selection, procurement and installation of IT Infrastructure and liaison with Vendors/ Suppliers/Consultants.
  • Assist in departmental recruitment and training.
  • Responsible for data backup, security and disaster recovery policy for the company.
  • Uphold a high level of integrity and confidentiality of all accessible data and information.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to subordinates in the execution of their roles.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by management from time to time.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree or Masters in the field of Computer Science.
  • MUST HAVE Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE).
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) would be preferable.
  • Certification or knowledge of database administration, Linux, security and project management will be an added advantage.
  • At least 7-8 years of prior experience in a similar environment and having managed a team.
  • Hands-on exposure with working on diverse technologies (LAN / WAN / Systems / Servers / Communication / Networking / Security / Data mining and Warehousing) and implementation of varied business solutions.
  • Ability to work in a team and manage people.
  • Ability to act as a business analyst with satisfactory communicational as well as technical skills.
  • Ability to see a project through with proper planning, activity scheduling and effective resource utilization.
