Finance Assistant

Location: Samburu, Homa Bay, Kenya

Supervisor:
 Program Manager & Finance Admin Manager

Job Summary:
 Responsible for the implementation of the finance and administration function within IMC Kenya

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Management of bank accounts, petty cash and disbursement of funds.
  • Co-ordinate banking activities including the deposit of funds and the withdrawals, liaise with the bank to ensure that the necessary documents are produced and availed to the office.
  • Daily data entry into the accounting system and submission of daily cash reports to Nairobi office.
  • Accounting for funds and preparing of monthly financial reports as per IMC regulations.
  • Ensure that financial controls and procedures are applied in all financial transactions as per IMC and donor regulations.
  • Update Nairobi office on developments in legal/administrative affairs that would affect the organization.
  • Day-to-day office administration, including following-up and ensuring utilities are paid (telephone, electricity etc.), managing office equipment i.e. photocopier, printers etc.) and providing administrative support to the day-to-day activities, i.e. organisation of meetings, organising accommodation for visiting staff, monitoring and maintaining stationery and office supplies
  • Participate in the monthly budgeting process for the program, ensuring proper administration of the office budget, as well as cash management.
  • Supporting logistics, HR and Admin related issues.
  • Assist with annual and quarterly audit documents.
  • Performing any other duties relevant to this position as may be assigned from time to time.
Skills and Requirements
  • Bachelor degree in the field of Finance/Accounting and/or CPA part II
  • Minimum of 1 years’ Experience working with an NGO
  • Must be computer literate and demonstrate an above average understanding in working with Excel, Word and Cost Point Accounting System.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of EU/EC regulations is an added advantage.
