Job Title: Community Liaison Senior Officer

Location: Nairobi

Reporting to: Director, Commercial Opportunities and Marketing

Probationary Period: 3 months
 
This position reports to Director Commercial Opportunities and Marketing and is part of the commercial opportunities and marketing department. 

Its purpose is to design and deliver effective strategies to ensure the fullest possible community engagement and partnerships with community groups in MSK’s work.  

In particular the role will seek and deliver increased engagement by adolescents and people with disabilities.

With effective strategies in place, the work of this post will result in increased demand for our services within the communities served for a sustainable Social Enterprise model of family planning and sexual reproductive health services.

Working to support work across all channels the role with stimulate ideas, facilitate discussions and support effective technical engagement 

The strategic purpose of the Department is strategic exploitation of commercial opportunities benefitting the fulfillment of MSK's mission.
The primary responsibility of this role is to further our Goal: THE PREVENTION OF UNWANTED BIRTHS and its mission of ensuring the individual’s right to: CHILDREN BY CHOICE NOT CHANCE

Key Responsibilities
 
 
This role has three key responsibilities:
  1. Development of CE strategy together with channel teams that realizes wide ranging engagement with communities who will use our services
  2. Oversight of the delivery of strategy through support and development of channel teams
  3. Liaison with organisations and development of partnerships

  1. A strategy and work plan that results in increased effective partnerships
  2. New groups demanding our services (CYP/Exit surveys)

Community Engagement Strategy
 
Activities include:
  • Close liaison with channel teams to collect and analyse on an ongoing basis the Ops/Threats for increased engagement with the communities in which MSK works to increase impact
  • Engagement and liaison with community organisations and associations targeting youth and people with disabilities
  • Communication of the strategy across all teams
  • Action planning

Activities include:
  • Training and support to channel teams to develop CE ideas locally though representation to potential partners
  • Development of a substantial list of potential partners
  • Partnership agreements with key groups for project work

Knowledge skills and attitudes 

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree in Sociology, Community development, Pubic Health, or other related discipline form a recognised institution.
Skills and Experience:
  • Between 3-5 years proven experience in effective community engagement and partnership development.
  • Strategic thinker able to see the opportunities and threats to achieve relevant contact with new potential clients in our communities.
  • Creativity in stimulating ideas an d finding potential links between community activities and MSK’s work.
  • Comfortable and confident in liaising with key government departments and local authorities that serve in particular younger groups and PWDs.
  • Experienced in identifying and negotiating workable strategic partnerships.
  • Excellent communicator within MSK teams and with community groups to develop ideas and formal agreements.
  • Proven experience in developing strategic sets of activities.
