First Time Loan Application: 2015-2016 Loan Programs
 
The Afya Elimu Fund is a partnership between the USAID funded FUNZOKenya project, Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), Ministry of Health, and the Kenya Healthcare Federation representing the private sector. 

The purpose of the Fund is to offer affordable loans to admitted first year and continuing needy students pursuing medical training at preservice level (diploma & certificate level only). 

Applications are invited from eligible Kenyans for the 2015/2016 Academic Year. 

This announcement is specifically targeting first time Afya Elimu Fund (AEF) applicants. 

A first time applicant refers to students holding a valid admission and joining for their first year or continuing students who have not previously received financial aid from AEF. 

Priority will be given to students studying in cadres with critical skills shortages in the health care sector. 

Kindly refer to the HELB website www.helb.co.ke for the specific cadres/courses and qualifying institutions.

How to Apply:
 
1. Applicants should access and fill the 2015/2016 First Time Afya Elimu Fund Loan Application Form from the HELB website www.helb.co.ke
 
2. Print two copies of the application form
 
3. Ensure the Loan Application Form [LAF] is duly completed, signed and stamped by the relevant officials, authorities and guarantors
 
4. Sign and attach all the necessary documents as indicated in the checklist appearing on the last page of the LAF.
 
5. Submit the duly completed application form to the Higher Education Loans Board Offices located at Anniversary Towers Building, 18th Floor, University Way, Nairobi OR drop it at any HELB Desk at your nearest Huduma Centre. (Nairobi, Machakos, Nakuru, Eldoret, Kisumu, Kakamega , Kisii, Nyeri, Embu, Mombasa, Thika and Meru).
 
6. Retain one copy of the duly filled LAF [Mandatory].
 
Additional information:
 
1. HELB will use the email and telephone contacts provided on the Loan Application Form for communication on the progress of the application.
 
2. The number of students supported and amount of loans awarded will depend on availability of funds
 
3. All applicants when applying must show evidence that they are bonafide students in the respective institutions.
