Background: Act for Change Consulting on Behalf of Fastenopfer
is seeking an experienced Advisor for Sustainable Agriculture to support
primarily partner organizations’ implementing working with small scale farmers
as well as accompaniment and monitoring.
The incumbent will be responsible for
providing technical and programmatic support to Country Programme, specifically
related to agroecology and saving groups with a specific focus on addressing
constraints and opportunities of the impact groups, specifically small scale farmers.

S/he will assist in the development
of appropriate guidance and approaches to programming and ensure the systematic
sharing of lessons among partner organizations.
Working closely with the Country
Programme Coordinator and Programme Manager, the incumbent will contribute to
the implementation of agro ecology strategy of Fastenopfer in Kenya.
Principal Responsibilities
- Contribute to the analysis of underlying
causes of poverty and support the launching of food sovereignity programs
with particular emphasis on sustainable agriculture with the agroecology
focus for the relevant impact groups.
- Assist with accompaniment and monitoring of
all food security programme activities while working to identify issues
and risks related to project implementation in a timely manner, and
provide technical suggestions.
- Help partners to understand the actual and
potential roles of sustainable agriculture and country programme specific
saving groups for the country programme impact groups.
- Work closely with Country Coordination Unit to
incorporate climate change adaptation and mitigation elements into
programs as well as disaster risk reduction and risk management in
general.
- Supports the National Coordinator in
addressing or following up issues arising with partners and projects
Qualifications
- Certified education (university degree) and
demonstrated knowledge and experience in sustainable agriculture and
organic farming, in particular agro-ecology
- At least 6 years of experience in projects of
similar or related nature, size, and complexity, with national or local
governments, NGOs, or donors; demonstrated experience as an advisor on
sustainable agriculture and organic farming.
- Experience in saving group schemes are an
asset.
- Ability to work well with others and to develop
and maintain compatibility among programme staff, partner organizations,
and recipients of assistance.
- Proven abilities to set priorities, to
multitask, organize systems to monitor results and to work collaboratively
across technical disciplines
