Introduction:
 The KCCB – General Secretariat is the National Administrative, facilitative and Coordinative arm through which the KCCB implements and co-ordinates various Pastoral programs at the National level and undertakes all those responsibilities which express the mission of the Catholic Church in Kenya.

It is seeking  to fill the following key position in its Catholic Health Commission of Kenya – KCCB

Position: Project Manager – HHA

Reports to:
 National Executive Secretary


Location: Nairobi with travel to the field within Kenya

Purpose of position:
 The Project Manager will undertake day to day project management and take project oversight responsibilities. 

In addition, s/he will be responsible for providing technical support to all project staff including those based at the health facilities to be able to institutionalize and integrate project activities into the wider health system structure. 

This person will play a key role in helping ensure the successful achievement of project activities leading to high quality of care provided at the health facilities.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure adequate project sensitization of health facility managers and county health teams.
  • Ensure proper, timely and accurate reporting of the project.
  • Collect, review, and disseminate reports from project activities in a timely manner.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with the project partners including the MoH, donor and health facilities in consultation with the National Executive Secretary
  • Participate in designing project evaluations and assessments.
  • Identify training needs capacity.
  • In consultation with the National Executive Secretary, communicate needs, challenges and successes to the partners.
  • Travel to project sites to provide on-site technical assistance.
  • Build capacity of facility staff in the areas of program management and health systems.
  • Participate in the planning and facilitation of technical workshops for capacity – building of Health Care Workers and Community Health Volunteers.
  • Monitor performance of health systems strengthening work plans at facilities, including collaboration with project officers and facility staff.
  • Ensure implementation of project comply with national guidelines and policies.
  • Ensure high quality clinical/programmatic results – patient/clinical management, community mobilization and adherence.
  • Create networks and sustainable stakeholder collaboration both at national and county level.
  • Identify potential community – based and development partners that would synergize efforts of the project.
  • Identify documents and share best practices and lessons learned.
Required Qualifications / Skills:
  • Bachelor’s Degree level Training in Nursing or Clinical Medicine and a Master’s Degree in Public Health or Health Systems Management.
  • Demonstrated work experience in the following areas: population and health Project planning and Management, organizational policy development, strategic planning, budgeting, monitoring and evaluation and proposal writing.
  • Minimum five years project management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge through formal and informal training,
  • Ability to work both independently, and as member of diverse task teams.
  • Proven interpersonal, leadership, training and mentoring skills.
  • Proven effective representation skills to varied stakeholders.
  • Experience in building the capacity of a team through both supervisory and non-supervisory relationships.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills in English.
  • Willingness to travel 30% of the time within Kenya, often under difficult circumstances.

  • Excellent data analysis skills using current data analysis applications
  • Excellent computer skills – General Computer Proficiency (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint)

  • A good knowledge of social teachings of the Church, and Ethical principles
