Position: Opportunities Program Officer
Location: Kibera,
Nairobi
Reports to: Kibera
Program Manager
Job Purpose: Manage the Success in Kenya Program at the Kibera
School for Girls, particularly the mentorship program.
Success in Kenya
- Recruit mentors from strategic corporations
and other partners
- Add to the existing ‘Mentorship Activity
Guide’
- Plan and run monthly mentorship events
- Schedule office visits to expose students to
various careers in Kenya
- Arrange for speakers to come and address the
students
- Provide on-the-ground logistical and
informational support to direct supervisor and broader Kenya team as
directed
- Perform any other job assigned
Other responsibilities
- Work with the Kibera and Mathere school social
work departments to develop ongoing programming for high-risk girls
- Work with closely with the Kibera Headmistress
and Mathare school coordinator to develop an annual plan of field trips
and extra-curricular activities that will benefit the students
- Work with the after-school coordinator to
develop engaging and beneficial extra-curricular activities
- Work with the MSP Matron and Headmistress to develop programing and beneficial activities for the girls housed at Margaret’s Safe Place
