wishes to recruit competent and qualified persons to fill the following
positions in Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Department.
1. Senior Superintending Engineer (Irrigation)
Job Group ‘N’
(1 Post)
Will be reporting to the County
Irrigation Engineer.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities at this
level will entail: -
- Supervising training of farmers on irrigation
development technologies and environmental management;
- Designing and supervising construction of
irrigation infrastructure;
- Preparing irrigation tender documents;
- Establishing and managing irrigation
management information systems;
- Training graduate engineers;
- Studying and compiling reports on socio-economic
and environmental impact of irrigation development;
- To ensure policy issues pertaining to
irrigation and drainage development are sufficiently addressed, upheld and
enhanced;
- Any other duty as may be assigned by the
supervisor, Chief Officer or the County Executive Committee Member.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an
officer must have:-
- Be a Kenyan citizen;
- Served in the grade of Superintending Engineer
I (Irrigation) for minimum period of three (3) years;
- Bachelors degree in any of the following
disciplines:- Agricultural Engineering, Soil Water and Environmental
Engineering; or Soil and Water Engineering from a recognized institution;
- Certificate in Senior Management course or any
other management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a
recognized institution;
- Computer literacy skills;
- Registration with Engineers Registration Board
(ERB); A valid annual practicing license from the Engineers Registration
Board (ERB) and membership with the Institution of Engineers of Kenya
(IEK) will be an added advantage;
- Demonstrated merit and shown ability as
reflected in work performance and results;
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of
devolution, the County Development objectives and Vision 2030.
2. Superintending Engineer (Irrigation)
Job Group ‘M’

Will be reporting to the County
Irrigation Engineer.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities at this
level will entail: -
- Training farmers on irrigation development
technologies and environmental management;
- Designing irrigation infrastructure;
- Managing construction of irrigation
infrastructure;
- Training graduate engineers;
- Preparing irrigation tender documents;
- Any other duty as may be assigned by the
supervisor, Chief Officer or the County Executive Committee Member.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an
officer must have:-
- Be a Kenyan citizen;
- Served in the grade of Assistant Engineer I
(Irrigation) for minimum period of three (3) years;
- Bachelors degree in any of the following
disciplines:- Agricultural Engineering, Soil Water and Environmental
Engineering, Biomechanical and processing Engineering or Soil and Water
Engineering from a recognized institution;
- Certificate in Senior Management course or any
other management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a
recognized institution;
- Computer literacy skills;
- Registration with Engineers Registration Board
(ERB); A valid annual practicing license from the Engineers Registration
Board (ERB) and membership with the Institution of Engineers of Kenya
(IEK) will be an added advantage;
- Demonstrated merit and shown ability as
reflected in work performance and results;
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of

3. Fisheries Officer
Job Group "K"
(1 Post)
Will be reporting to the County
Fisheries Officer.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Directing Fisheries activities in their areas
of jurisdiction;
- Assist in implementation of fisheries
development strategies;
- Assist in management of fisheries resources;
- Collection and compilation of fisheries
statistics;
- Fisheries extension work;
- Compilation of technical reports;
- Supervision of junior technical staff under
their area of jurisdiction;
- Enforcement of fisheries rules and
regulations;
- Any other duty as may be assigned by the
supervisor, Chief Officer or the County Executive Committee Member.
Requirements for appointment:
For appointment to this grade, a
candidate must:
i. Be a Kenya Citizen;
ii. Have a relevant knowledge and
experience in Fisheries management and extension;
iii. Possess at least a Bachelor of
Science degree in any of the following disciplines:
- Fisheries Science;
- Biological Sciences;
- Biochemistry;
- Aquatic Sciences;
- Environmental Science;
Or equivalent qualifications from a
recognized institution;
(v) Have broad knowledge in fisheries
management and development policies, Fisheries Act and other related Acts;
(vi) Show merit and ability as
reflected in work performance and results;
(vii) Demonstrate a thorough
understanding of devolution, the County Development objectives and Vision 2030;
- Participation in community projects or
extension work and training in fisheries management will be an added
advantage.
4. Assistant Fisheries Officer
Job Group "H"
(2 Posts)
Will be reporting to the Sub-County
Fisheries Officer.
Duties and Responsibilities
Officers at this level will be
deployed in the Sub county stations to work under the supervision of Fisheries
Officers.
- Assisting in fisheries activities in their
areas of jurisdiction;
- Assist in implementation of fisheries
development strategies;
- Assist in management of fisheries resources;
- Assist in collection and compilation of
fisheries statistics;
- Fisheries extension work;
- Compilation of field reports;
- Enforcement of fisheries rules and
regulations;
Requirements for appointment:
For appointment to this grade, a
candidate must:
i. Be a Kenya Citizen;
ii. Have relevant knowledge and
experience in Fisheries extension;
iii. Possess at least a Certificate
or Diploma in any of the following disciplines:
- Fisheries Management;
- Applied Sciences;
- Wildlife Management;
- Environmental resource management;
- General agriculture;
- Agricultural extension.
Or equivalent relevant qualifications
from a recognized institution.
(iv) Have broad knowledge in
fisheries management, Fisheries Act and other related Acts;
(v) Show merit and ability as
reflected in work performance and results;
- Participation in community projects or
extension work and training in fisheries management will be an added
advantage.
5. Animal Health Assistants
Job Group “G”
(13 Posts)
Will be reporting to the Sub-County
Veterinary Officer.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Enforcing slaughterhouse hygiene,
slaughterhouse daily kill, meat inspection, grading and meat transport
regulations;
- Participating in disease search, collecting
data and writing movement permits and technical report;
- Carrying out vaccination;
- Carrying out simple treatment of animals;
closed castration, dehorning, deworming, disbudding, docking, de-beaking
and hoof trimming;
- Carrying out external parasite control
techniques such as dipping, spraying and dusting;
- Training farmers on keeping records on animal
breeding, Artificial Insemination, animal health, milk production, dipping
data;
- Participating in animal health field
demonstrations and agricultural shows;
- Providing technical advice hides, skins and
leather development.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a
candidate must:
- Be a Kenya Citizen;
- Hold a Certificate in Animal Health or Animal
Health and Production from a recognized institution;
- Be registered by the Kenya Veterinary Board;
- Computer literate;
- Shown ability and demonstrated merit in work
performance and results;
- Other certificate Courses relevant to Animal
Health services and relevant knowledge and experience in Livestock
extension will be an added advantage.
6. Leather Development Officer
Job Group ‘G’
(4 Posts)
Will be reporting to the Sub-County
Veterinary Officer.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Undertaking periodic monitoring of hides and
skin trade with a view to curbing illegal trade;
- Inspecting curing premises for purpose of
their registration; advising the rural tanners/cottage industry on
technical and economical and issuing/renewals of slaughter man’s license
to flayers; ensuring that legal requirements pertaining to hides and skins
trade are compiled with;
- Advising the rural tanners/cottage industry on
technical and economical aspects of producing various types of leather and
leather products;
- Providing advisory services to trade on hides
and skins and leather trade;
- Undertaking simple feasibility studies on
leather development projects; advising on the salt type; storage and
method of application in curing hides and skins;
- Identifying markets where new curing premises
(bandas) and stores need to be constructed and expansion of the existing
ones;
- Advising on sitting, designing, and overseeing
the construction of suitable hides and skins premises and stores;
- Participating in field days, barazas and
workshops to advise livestock farmers on the proper methods of handling
domestic animals for production of quality hides and skins;
- Training and demonstrating to traders and
hides and skins flayers on appropriate methods of flaying, cleaning,
curing and storage of hides and skins;
- Advising on issuance of dispatch notes to
facilitate movement of hides and skins as a disease control tool.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a
candidate must:
- Be a Kenya Citizen;
- Be a certificate holder in hides and skins
improvement or leather technology from a recognized institution;
- Any other certificates relevant to leather
development will be an added advantage;
- Have relevant knowledge and experience in the
hides and skins industry
- Computer literacy;
- Demonstration of merit and shown ability as
reflected in work performance and result;
