Our client would like to fill the position of a Project / SPV Accountant who will be reporting to the Chief Accountant.

Job Purpose / Summary:
 The position is responsible for developing project budgets for SPVs and joint ventures and monitoring actual expenditure against the budgets. 

It is also responsible for highlighting areas where actual expenditure exceed the budgeted amounts. 

The position should ensure that the budgetary systems, processes and procedures are working as per the agreed targets.

Duties and Responsibilities
 
Finance and Budgeting
  • Develop budgets and operating cashflows for projects and SPVs, ensuring that all budgeting assumptions are incorporated.
  • Working closely with the Project Finance division to ensure alignment and synchrony between project and SPV budgets maintained Finance and Project Finance.
  • Reconciling final project/SPV budgets to the budget work sheets and loading of the same to the Accounting software
  • Custodian of the final approved project /SPV budgets, and ensuring that all payments made in the project/SPV are provided for in the budget
  • Processing of project/SPV payments once they have been approved through the Project Finance division.
  • Seeking prior approval of payments that are not provided for in the project/SPV budget.
  • Ensuring that Financial information maintained in the Accounting software for project/SPVs is accurate and reliable
  • Periodically preparing a report that compares actual to budgeted amounts per budget line for ongoing projects/SPVs
  • Preparing an updated schedule of planned payments for projects/SPVs to ensure timely settlement of project/SPV payments as and when they fall due
General Finance
  • Account reconciliation
  • Conducting weekly banking operations, delivering and picking documents the banks
  • Providing records and explanations to queries raised by external and internal auditors
  • Performing any other duties assigned
Minimum Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA (K)/ACCA certification.
  • 3 years working experience in a similar role with a strong element of project financing.
  • Knowledge in budget preparation, project/cost accounting and taxation.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills in Excel and Modelling are desirable.
  • Practical experience using generic Accounting software such as QuickBooks.
  • Prior experience within the real estate sector will be an added advantage.
