General description of tasks and objectives to be achieved:Under the overall supervision of the FAO Somalia Representative and direct supervision of the Compliance Officer, the Call Centre Operator will contribute to efforts that monitor projects outputs against work plan and targets, including those of the Service Providers for the overall FAO Somalia Programmes.

The operator will:
·                     Assist in collecting data and information on the activities of each component of the FAO emergency and programme components
·                     Assist in compiling the data for each components of the emergency and programmes
·                     Organizes and conducts phone-based surveys for the units utilizing a pre-existing format
·                     Follow FAO SO survey methodologies and existing formats for data and metadata storage (databases, tools, protocols)
·                     Be available to receive phone calls from key informants and record data in standard template (green-line calls)
·                     Enter data received from key informants into FAO SO databases
·                     Maintain a schedule of surveys and work efficiently towards their completion
·                     Perform other related duties as required..
Minimum Requirements

Education:
·                     Completion of secondary school education. 
·                     Diploma level education will be an advantage.
Work Experience:
·                     Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience working in communications or outreach position.
Technical Competencies
·                     Systematic and efficient approach to work assignments.
·                     Ability to manipulate large data sets; excellent attention to details; communicates with supervisors and colleagues on a regular basis;
·                     Good judgment and analytical ability; candid and trustworthy when issues are raised.
·                     Ability to work under minimum supervision.
Languages:
·                     Working knowledge (level C) of the FAO official language used for communication within the country (English, French or Spanish) and working knowledge of the local language(s) is required. 
·                     Fluency and knowledge of Somali language is essential for this position.
IT Skills:
·                     Ability to effectively use standard office software, such as MS Office (Windows, Word, Outlook, Excel, Exchange) etc. 
·                     Ability to use accounting software and other information systems and databases to insert data, make enquiries, retrieve/define ad hoc reports and analyses and edit results in appropriate format.

Position Title: Nutrition  Data Analyst

General description of tasks and objectives to be achieved:Under the overall supervision of the FAO Somalia Representative, CTA and the Nutrition Technical Manager and direct supervision of the Nutrition Analyst,  the Nutrition Data Analyst will focus on the following areas and tasks:
·                     Lead Analyst in conducting analysis and identifying associations between nutrition indicators and other indicators relating to public health, water and sanitation, care practices and food security.
·                     Identification and completion of statistical tests for more complex analysis of nutrition indicators focusing on the contributing factors to malnutrition in Somalia the effect of livelihood, season and ethic groups and the trends over time.
·                     Training and regular support to Nairobi and Field based nutrition staff in the application and running of this analysis after conducting a survey of needs of staff
·                     Maintenance of developed database of historical nutrition data, ensuring the database and analysis is up to date as new surveys are completed, in collaboration with nutrition team.
·                     In collaboration with the Data Analyst, link the nutrition database with the integrated database to allow for integrated analysis.
·                     Review baseline nutrition information by livelihood for FSNAU for Somalia referring to the database of historical nutrition data identifying typical trends of acute malnutrition by livelihood over time.
·                     Collaborate with the Food Security Baseline lead and Food Security Data Analyst to ensure an integrated analysis of all the baseline data by livelihood in Somalia referring to the Somali Integrated Spreadsheet.
·                     Focal point for HIS software working in close collaboration with UNICEF
·                     Contribute to developing, piloting, implementation and utilisation of the HIS software
·                     Enhance linkage of nutrition data within food security analysis templates
·                     Identify opportunities for linking market and nutrition data for better understanding of possible associations.
·                     Represent the FSNAU nutrition team in interagency, information systems and statistics working groups for Somalia.
·                     Contribute to production and dissemination of nutrition quality control  information through FSNAU’s publications
·                     Coordinate the development of documents on nutrition information analysis processes in collaboration with the Nutrition Team
·                     Participate in external training for partners on nutrition assessment analysis in collaboration with the Nutrition Team.
·                     Contribute to the development and implementation of specific research initiatives related to nutrition and food security in Somalia.
·                     Identify key statistical associations requiring further analysis and develop suitable proposals for  such studies – focus on development and analysis of feeding centre performance indicators
·                     Preparation of presentations on the relevant analysis as requested by the Nutrition Technical Manager
·                     Undertake other tasks related to the project as required.
Minimum Requirements

Education:
·                     Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health or equivalent from a recognized university / institution
Work Experience
·                     Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience in Nutrition analysis preferably in Somalia
Technical Competencies
·                     Expert knowledge and experience on computer software and statistical applications such as EpiInfo, SPSS, Access.
·                     Demonstrated experience in the integration of food security, public health and social care environment information in nutrition analysis.
·                     Excellent writing and presentation skills
Languages:

General Description of Tasks and Objectives to be Achieved:Under the overall supervision of the FAO Somalia Representative, the FSNAU Chief Technical Adviser (CTA), and under direct supervision of the Nutrition Technical Manager, the Nutrition Analyst will provide programme support in the monitoring and reporting of the food security situation in Somalia.  

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
·                     Lead nutrition situation analysis in North West region of Somalia ( Somaliland), by; Develop and maintain an up-to-date work plan for the NW region, and coordinate its implementation
·                     Coordinate data collection through the nutritional surveillance system (nutrition surveys, rapid assessments, health facilities, sentinel sites surveillance)
·                     Analyze data generated through the nutritional surveillance system (assessments, sentinel sites surveillance) using the appropriate computer software (E.g. Epi info and nutrisurvey)
·                     Provide technical and operational support and guidance to the zonal team.
·                     Budget, manage and account for finances for the various activities undertaken within the zone.
·                     Ensure monthly and quarterly reports are submitted to the Nutrition Technical Manager in Nairobi on a timely basis
·                     Manage the field staff based in Somaliland,  review their performance /evaluation)
·                     Identify capacity deficits among staff members in the NW zone and recommend appropriate ways of addressing them
·                     Ensure compliance to FAO administrative guidelines by staff members in the zone (with particular attention to those related to travel procedures and security).
·                     Identify and strengthen partnerships
1.           Identify capacity deficits among partners in Somaliland and take steps to build their capacity through (SMART training, supervisor training, data analysis/reporting)
2.           Set up and conduct training for the technical focal points of partner agencies in the designated zone
3.           Coordinate with partners at country, zonal and regional levels during surveillance and dissemination of Nutrition information
4.           Support the team in the development and maintenance of professional relationships with key partners in Somaliland and Nairobi.
·                     Contribute to the development and implementation of specific research initiatives related to nutrition and food security in Somalia.
·                     Ensure that the nutrition databases are maintained and updated with relevant information from the relevant zone 
·                     Represent the FSNAU Nutrition team in interagency and nutrition cluster meetings as directed by the Nutrition Technical Manager and in line with key areas of FAO’s programme work  and research.
·                     Contribute to the production and dissemination of nutrition information through FSNAU’s routine bulletins.
·                     Contribute to the nutrition assessment reports produced by other team members providing constructive criticism and additional input and advice where appropriate.
·                     Provide support to cover the gaps and delegate the relevant responsibilities and activities to the remaining team members to ensure all areas of the project are being supported in the absence of key responsible staff and in consultation with the Nutrition Technical Manager., Co-ordinate all information flow from field staff to a central point during  onset of sudden shocks such as conflict and floods
·                     Act as mentor to all new field Nutrition Analysts
·                     Monitor communication with partners in relation to assessment planning and analysis – linked to improved coordination at Nairobi and field level.
·                     Disseminate information and communication through ad-hoc reports, contributions to other reports (FSNAU, UNDP, OCHA etc)  to interested parties
·                     Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements

Education:
·                     Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health or related degree from a recognized university
Work Experience:
·                     5 years relevant work experience in nutrition analysis
·                     Proficiency in analytical software including SPSS, EPinfo, ENA
·                     Previous experience working in Somalia will be an added advantage.
