Impact Research and Development Organization

Impact Research and Development Organization is a registered Kenyan NGO with a main office in Kisumu and regional offices in ten counties.

IRDO’s principal mandate is to design, implement and evaluate HIV/AIDS research and intervention programs that improve the health status of individuals and local communities.

We are looking for qualified and experienced personnel to fill in the following positions within our DREAMS Program.


The program seeks to provide most vulnerable adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) aged 15-24 years with core package of evidence-informed interventions most likely to impact HIV incidence, address risk behaviors for and transmission of HIV, and reduce gender-based violence in Siaya County. 

1. Position:
 Field Assistants

Job  Summary:
 Coordinate  the  identification,  recruitment  and  support  for  AGYW  enrolled  in  the DREAMS Program at the Ward level. 

Reports to: Program Coordinator 

Location: Bondo, Ugenya, Alego-Usonga, Gem, Rarieda and Ugunja sub-counties, Siaya County 

Key Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Conduct identification,  screening  and  recruitment of  eligible  most  vulnerable  girls into  the program.
  • Carry out needs assessment of individual program beneficiaries.
  • Provide psychosocial support to program beneficiaries and their primary caregivers.
  • Make appropriate and effective referrals as required by the program blue print.
  • Actively  engage  with  the  local  community  members  and  other  stakeholders  on  service provision and support to program beneficiaries.
  • Ensure each beneficiary receives all the appropriate interventions offered by the program.
  • Monitor and document the progress of program beneficiaries.
  • Compile and submit program progress reports as required.
  • Support  the  Program  Coordinator  with  the  implementation  and  daily  operations  of  the program.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Diploma in Social Work, Community Development, Education, Project Management, or related field.
  • Must have 2 years experience of working with vulnerable children, AGYW and their families.
  • Training in counselling is an added advantage.
Other Competencies: Ability to multi-task; excellent communication skills and teamwork; proficient in 
Microsoft Office package and ability to work under minimum supervision.
 

2. Position:
 HTC Counsellors 

Job Summary: Provide HIV testing and counseling services to AGYW, and their sexual partners 
where applicable; and ensure all clients testing HIV+ positive are linked and enroll for HIV care and treatment services.

Reports to:
 HTC Team Leaders 

Location: Bondo, Ugenya, Alego-Usonga, Gem, Rarieda and Ugunja sub-counties, Siaya County 

Key Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Offer  HIV  Testing  and  Counselling  services  to  eligible  AGYW  and their  sexual partners  and provide effective referrals when applicable.
  • Ensure that all HIV positive clients are promptly referred and that all are enrolled for HIV care and treatment services at MoH PSCs of choice.
  • Ensure uncircumcised HIV negative male clients are referred for VMMC services at the nearest health facilities; and for other age-appropriate and relevant SRH services.
  • Ensure quality HTC services are provided to clients in accordance with National HTC Guidelines.
  • Closely work with Field Assistants to undertake identification, screening and recruitment of most vulnerable AGYW to receive a package of combination HIV services.
  • Ensure clients information/data are kept safe and confidential
  • Compile and submit program progress report as required.
  • Perform any other duty as assigned by immediate supervisor
Minimum Requirements:
  • Certificate in HIV Counselling and Testing from a recognized institution (proof of certification is required)
  • At least a Certificate in any Social Sciences is required.
  • Trained on HTC New Algorithm and should be actively practicing in the last three months
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a HTC service provider in a busy HTC site.
  • Must be  pleasant,  have  good  communication  skills  and  willing  to  work  under  pressure  in  remote settings.
  • Fluency in native Luo (local language) is an added advantage.
