Risk Manager

The Position:
 Reporting to reporting to Legal, Risk and Compliance Manager, the position will be responsible for the risk management function within KCB Capital Limited and shall oversee the implementation of all controls within the brokerage business in order to meet all regulatory and internal requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that all regulatory, legal and other aspects of brokerage business are met.
  • Monitor all brokerage transactions and advise as to their potential adverse implications for KCB Capital Limited and what mitigation strategies might be put in place to prevent such outcomes
  • Monitor all operational, market and credit risk aspects for the KCB Capital.
  • Certify that all reports regarding the above compliance and risks are submitted in a timely manner where they are required by the relevant stakeholders.
  • Report all key exceptions observed that are not corrected to Legal Risk and Compliance Manager, Chief Risk Officer, Company Secretary and Chief Internal Auditor
  • To facilitate policy review and development on need basis.
  • Calculation of Risk Based Capital as per CMA requirements.
  • To provide oversight for reporting compliance to regulator.
  • To coordinate the improvement of the company’s risk matrix to capture all the inherent risks of the business and their mitigating controls.
  • To support the business in driving its strategy plans including formulation of annual plans.
The Person:
For the above position, the successful applicant should have the following:
  • University Degree preferably in a business related field.
  • Professional qualifications (CFA/KIB/ACIB/CPA/ACCA) or MBA is an added advantage.
  • At least 3 years’ proven experience in a Risk Function of an Investment Bank or  Brokerage
  • Knowledge of operations of the Capital Markets Authority, Nairobi Security Exchange and Central Depository Settlement Corporation.
  • Strong knowledge of the regulatory environment, brokerage risk, policies and procedures.
1.    Have thorough understanding of Capital Markets products and services.

The Position:
 Reporting to the Head of Brokerage, the position will be responsible for preparing accurate and complete research reports for the company and clients. 

The candidate will work closely with the Dealers to develop trading ideas and ensure that clients receive sound financial advice.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide research findings on key market trends and opportunities.
  • Ensure the integrity of data gathering and interpretation of market research findings.
  • Keep up-to-date on industry and sector trends and research methodologies.
  • Produce industry/role-specific research as necessary.
  • Conduct fundamental and technical research.
  • Construct, maintain and review the forecasting models.
  • Analyse and synthesize financial and operating information about companies and sectors in order to gain insights and develop opportunities for clients
  • Perform valuation analysis using various methodologies including DCF and market multiples
  • Undertake detailed economic, sectorial and company research & analysis in support of capital markets products
  • Monitor Securities market performance and interpret financial reports as necessary
The Person:

Manager Operations Brokerage

The Position: Reporting to reporting the Head of Brokerage, the role will be the custodian of the company’s operational policies processes and procedures and responsible for ensuring seamless operations whilst ensuring adherence to polices and regulatory guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Liaise with the Finance and other stakeholders during preparation of brokerage financial statements.
  • Ensure that Fund Managers and Custodians receive their contract notes on email on T, and the hard copies on T+1 and all other processing is done within agreed turnaround times.
  • Ensure that all CDSC functions – immobilization, withdrawals, transfers etc. – are done in a timely manner as per the set standards.
  • Build, improve and maintain effective relationships with industry stakeholders i.e. NSE, CDSC, Custodian Banks, Registrars, Fund Managers, Uganda Stock Exchange, Uganda Registrars and CMA.
  • Ensure seamless communication between customer service unit and operations. Manage the query resolution process by providing timely responses.
  • To ensure all the relevant statutory deductions are remitted to the relevant statutory bodies in a timely manner.
  • To liaise with Administration & IT on disaster recovery plan, testing & certification.
  • To Liaise with Legal department on complaints with legal implications.
  • Support internal and external auditors and inspectors, responding to audit queries, and providing audit information and schedules.
