Job Title: Accountant

Job Summary: The accountant is responsible for applying
accounting principles and procedures to collate and analyze financial
information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and
ensure appropriate accounting control procedures are upheld.
- Prepare and monitor implementation of
accounting manual (accounting policies, procedures, systems etc.);
- establish and monitor the implementation and
maintenance of accounting control procedures
- ensure financial records are maintained in
compliance with the RUPIA Ltd policies and procedures
- resolve accounting discrepancies and
irregularities
- raise payments vouchers and cheque for payment
- administer the petty cash float and ensure timely
reimbursements of the same
- prepare monthly bank reconciliation statements
- prepare the staff payroll and ensure
that the company complies, on a timely basis, with all statutory
requirements
- prepare weekly cash flow statements
- maintain the company assets register
- compile and analyze financial information to
prepare financial statements including monthly and annual accounts
- assist in the preparation and continuous
management and support of budget and forecast activities
- develop and maintain financial data bases
- financial audit preparation and coordinate the
internal audit process
- develop and advise on appropriate
internal controls to reduce risk
- ensure accurate and appropriate recording and
analysis of revenues, expenses, assets and liabilities
- analyze and advise on business operations
including revenue and expenditure trends, financial commitments and future
revenues
- analyze financial information to recommend or
develop efficient use of resources and procedures, provide strategic
recommendations and maintain solutions to business and financial problems
- ensure all financial reporting deadlines are
met
- Undertake internal audit functions on all
operations of the company (disbursements, savings, collection of all fees,
exits, etc.”
- Perform other financial tasks and assignments
as and when required which are consistent with your level in the
organization
Key Competencies
- A Bachelor Degree in BCOM, BBA with an option
of Finance/Accounting
- 5years working experience with Microfinance
Bank or Sacco Institution within a similar position.
- Accounting professional qualification CPA. K
