Job Title: Area Supervisor
 
Cluster: LowLands Cluster (Laisamis and North Horr sub-counties)
 
Location: Marsabit
 

Reports To: Cluster Manager
 
Contract period: 1 year contract (renewable depending on funding)

Position in the Organization:
 The Area Supervisor reports to the Cluster Manager
 
The Area Supervisor manages Multi Sector Facilitators, Project Officers and Field sponsorship relations officers.
 
Purpose of the Job: Manages and coordinates the development, design, planning, implementation and evaluation of the CFCT local Implementation plan in the lowlands cluster where she/he leads a team, ensuring the integration of all sectors and the transformational development of churches, leaders and families

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities

Key Result #1 -
 Program implementation
  • Preparing the Cluster annual operating plan considering strategies and identified needs in communities.
  • Ensuring proper implementation of each sector of CFCT (Nutrition, WASH, HIV& Aids, Livelihoods and Sponsorship )
  • Establishing relationships with key sectorial stakeholders, key community and church leaders
  • Trainings or coordinating the training of the multi sector facilitators and community groups under his/her responsibility.
  • Establishing inter agency relationships while coordinating closely to avoid duplication of efforts in communities.
  • Building the capacity of community and church leaders in areas including: biblical worldview, planning and implementation of projects, monitoring and evaluation and Risk Management and Disaster Management plans under DRR/M.
  • Supporting multi sectoral linkage between the nutrition sector and other nutrition sensitive sectors
Key result 2: Reporting, Documentation and Monitoring
  • Monitoring and evaluating progress of the projects following the guidelines established.
  • Collating information on all cluster activities to keep updated on the progress of activities and any arising issues and designing appropriate responses
  • Assisting in generating stories required from the field to facilitate the process of fundraising campaigns.
  • Creating reports on the assigned programs, in accordance with donor requirements and ensure distribution to donors and other stakeholders.
  • Recording and documentation all program activities according to guidelines
Key Result #3 Undertake other Supportive Activities as appropriate
  • Identifying and maintaining contacts with key government and other organizations for networking.
  • Identifying special needs and potential program areas and draft summaries or proposals on the same.
Qualifications
  • Vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Excellent inter personal relationship and excellent communications skills – both oral and written
  • Highly motivated, self starter able to work on own initiative in difficult conditions
  • Ability to write well organized reports and other official correspondences.
  • Experience in planning and carrying out Nutrition surveys
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English and Kiswahili
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition or a related discipline plus 4 years’ experience working with children in an NGO set up.

Job Title: Field Nutritionist Officers 

(Two positions)
 
Cluster: LowLands Cluster (Laisamis / North Horr) and Marsabit Central (Saku sub county)
 
Location: Marsabit
 
Reports To: Area Supervisor
 
Contract period: 1 year contract (renewable depending on funding)

Position in the Organization: The Field Nutritionist reports hierarchically to the Area Supervisor, in the cluster they are based in.
 
Purpose of the Job: Undertakes and coordinates the implementation of the Health and Nutrition interventions in the assigned region at the health facility and community level in close collaboration with other technical team from the Ministry of Health, and other agencies. 

The Field Nutrition Officer also supports the health facility staffs and community health workers in implementation these activities.

Key Result #1 -
 Implementation of nutrition activities in the region
  • Preparing work plans with regard to implementation of high impact nutrition activities in the assigned region and seek collaboration with key partners in doing this.
  • Developing key messages on nutrition to the targeted beneficiaries, and ensure they are delivered appropriately.
  • Ensuring that management of acute malnutrition is done according to laid down procedures and screen in this respect children under five and pregnant and lactating mothers on a monthly basis.
Key Activity #2 - Offering Technical support /trainings
  • Conducting on-job trainings to the facility health workers and community health workers.
  • Implementing high impact nutrition interventions packages at the health facilities and community levels.
  • Facilitating formation of mother to mother support groups, their functionality and linkage to the health facilities
  • Working closely with other agencies with nutrition programs in region/zone
  • Supporting multi sector linkage between the nutrition sector and other nutrition sensitive sectors
Key Result #3 - Monitoring and reporting
  • Monitoring the implementation of the project activities and prepare regular (progress) reports, in accordance with donor requirements.
  • Supporting Health facilities in Nutrition commodity report management
  • Supporting the ministry of health in ensuring adequate nutrition commodities at the health facility level
  • Participating in Annual Nutrition surveys
Qualifications

  • Proficiency in computer skills is a must
  • Attention to details and high level of accuracy
  • Have knowledge of SMART nutrition survey methodology
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge in management of acute malnutrition in ASAL
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English and Kiswahili.
Education and Experience
 
Bachelors in Nutrition or other relevant degrees plus 2 year experience in management of acute malnutrition. 

Or Higher Diploma in Nutrition or related field plus 3 years experience in a similar role.

  • Coordinating CFCT implementation and field sponsorship activities to be efficiently and effectively accomplished towards achievement of community set goals
  • Establishing interagency relationships coordinating closely to avoid duplication of efforts in communities.
  • Facilitating groups of Community Leaders in the development of a Community Transformation Plan and the ongoing implementation of their Community Transformation Cycle using the Community Development Training Manual.
  • 8. Building the capacity of community and church leaders in areas including: biblical worldview, planning and implementation of projects, monitoring and evaluation and Risk Management and Disaster Management plans under DRR/M.
