Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Support design and implementation of financial
service related program initiatives including media campaigns and ICT
based activities designed raise youth awareness and utilization of
financial services.
- Oversees the day-to-day financial management
and accounting of the KYWP Contract at the project office;
- Maintains and manages project office accounts,
in coordination with Nairobi Finance Department. Perform regular
reconciliation of project account book with SUN system database
- Maintains complete, accurate and timely
financial records in compliance with USAID and IRC policies and
procedures; prepares and submits monthly financial reports to Nairobi
finance office in timely manner
- Prepares and tracks KYWP project budgets and
budget projections;
- Reviews vouchers and payment requests,
including proper back-up documentation to ensure compliance with IRC
policies and procedures and USAID rules and regulations;
- Create linkages with financial services providers
to identify potential products and services for youth.
- Support the design of activities (through
other program elements) that link youth and youth serving organizations
with financial services and financial service providers.
- Support the development and adaptation of life
skills/soft skills/financial literacy training elements/modules within job
and entrepreneurship training packages.
- Support the development and monitor progress
of financial service activity work plans.
- Support collection of monitoring and
evaluation data to track the progress and pace of relevant financial
service activities.
- Maintain productive working relationships with
project partners, beneficiaries and key counterparts.
- Working closely with IRC Technical Advisors,
remain up to date on good practices and developments in youth financial
services in order to ensure program quality and impact.
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business,
humanities, management, international development, political science, or
other relevant field.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in
working with or for the financial services sector.
- Experience in youth outreach or youth
skill-building programs.
- Strong leadership, analytical and
organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to quickly assess priorities
and effectively manage a variety of activities at a time while paying
appropriate attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to
interact professionally with donor, project stakeholders, in-country
collaborators and staff at all levels of the organization.

Job Overview: The IRC seeks a Gender Integration Manager for the USAID-funded Kenya Youth Workforce Program (KYWP).
This five-year program will enhance
the employability of Kenyan youth through improved technical, business and
vocational skills; improved effectiveness of market and employment information
acquisition; and improved youth awareness and utilization of financial
services.
The Gender Integration Manager will
lead the cross-cutting theme of gender equity, designing and implementing
tools, guidance, and project policy to ensure that the project as a whole is
gender inclusive and gender balanced.
This includes raising awareness on
where barriers exist for women in terms of access to financing, training, and
employment.
The Gender Integration Manager will
directly support the Chief of Party (COP) in the design, roll-out and
day-to-day management of gender integration interventions and analysis.
This position will provide
gender-related technical expertise across all program objectives.

- Lead and manage the development and
implementation of a cross-cutting gender integration approaches which
allows for greater participation of women across program objectives.
- Lead gender analysis during project inception
and planning phases – ensuring the voices of women and girls and needs are
outlined as project is further designed.
- Develop toolkit of gender resources to improve
the integration of women in traditionally male-led business and private
sector activities and support the development of women and girls focused
curricula modules within all program activities (gender discussion groups,
life skills, mentoring etc).
- Develop program guidance and policies for KYWP
senior management, program coordinators and program managers to ensure the
inclusion of gender equitable parameters across objectives.
- Provide capacity building trainings to staff
and partners on gender mainstreaming and translating gender related
project goals and objectives into implementable strategies
- Support service mapping of GBV related
services within project areas and dissemination of mapping.
- Work with the Monitoring and Evaluation
Coordinator to monitor the progress and pace of gender integration
throughout project implementation, assuring that the full potential of the
program is realized through the promotion of gender equity principles.
- Remain up to date on good practices and
developments in gender integration in order to ensure program quality and
impact.
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in women’s studies,
humanities, international development, political science, management or
other relevant field.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in gender
equity and women’s engagement programming.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience
supporting international development programs in transitional environments
in the field of education, workforce development, advocacy, , or civil
society capacity building with a focus on women and girls.
- Experience in women/girls/youth outreach,
relationship building, and partnerships in advancing organizational
mission and recognizing opportunities for collaboration.
- Strong leadership, analytical and
organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to quickly assess priorities

This five-year program will enhance
the employability of Kenyan youth through improved technical, business and

acquisition; and improved youth awareness and utilization of financial
services.
The Entrepreneurship Coordinator will
lead, design and facilitate business and entrepreneurship skill acquisition
through the initial planning, roll-out and day-to-day management of a
comprehensive youth entrepreneurship training plan.
The Coordinator will develop unique
training opportunities, as well as identify opportunities for beneficiary
participation in existing business training programs through microfinance
institutions or other public and private providers.
The Entrepreneurship Coordinator will
oversee financial services staff that raise youth awareness and utilization of
financial services and will coordinate with relevant USAID economic growth
activities to ensure streamlined and sustainable service provision.

- Lead and manage the design and implementation
of KYWP activities related to youth entrepreneurship and business skill
acquisition, including toolkit and curricula piloting and adaptation,
facilitation of training of trainers and partner capacity building.
- Identify and develop partnerships with
relevant private sector and local youth serving organizations in support
of roll out and delivery of entrepreneurship, business skills and
financial services pieces of the program.
- Develop, manage and keep track of relevant
program activity workplans and training implementation schedules to ensure
timely delivery of services and achievement of objectives.
- Work with relevant KYWP staff to ensure youth
voice, participation and feedback in all elements of project cycle.
- Identify and support the development of ICT
based solutions/methods/approaches to delivering and participating in
entrepreneurship and business skills training.
- Liaise with Manage the Financial Services
Manager, overseeing design and implementation of youth awareness and
utilization of financial services.
- Work with the Monitoring and Evaluation
Coordinator to monitor the progress and pace of youth business skill
development, assuring that program objectives are realized and feedback
accurately captured and integrated.
- Maintain productive working relationships with
project partners, beneficiaries and key counterparts.
- Working closely with IRC Technical Advisors,
remain up to date on good practices and developments in entrepreneurship,
business skills and financial services in order to ensure program quality
and impact.
- Together with the IRC Kenya’s Deputy Director
for Programs, design new livelihood projects to ensure a robust economic
improvement sector within the IRC Kenya program.
