Director, Support Services will be responsible for managing support and
business development services sections.
The key responsibilities for this
position are;
- Overseeing formulation and implementation of
administrative policies and procedures for the support functions.
- Develop and maintain a range of high- level
working and strategic relationships with business partners, educational
institutions and donor agencies.
- Identify, initiate and manage collaboration
with donor institutions for material and financial support for the
company.
- Monitor the implementation of small, medium
and large projects and activities by evaluating progress reports and using
latest project management practices and procedures and reporting to
management on the same.
- Monitor implementation and follow up of
administration and Board decisions.
Appointment Requirements
- Master’s in Business Administration.
- Membership in relevant professional bodies.
- Ten (10) years working experience- prior work
experience with donor agency or international firm is desirable.
- Thorough knowledge of international best
practices in energy sector operations and knowledge of project management
trends as well as understanding of developing priorities within the
sector.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large
multi-disciplinary projects.
- Ability to quickly understand the basics of
project activity management including the requirements for financial and
programmatic reporting.
- Strong Proposal writing skills for technical

Deputy Director - Telecom Services

Director, Telecom Services will be responsible for the business growth of a
utility-based carrier-class telecom service provider with a comprehensive
network in Kenya.
The key responsibilities for this
position are;
- Developing and implementing the strategic
initiatives for Telecom Services Department
- Overseeing end-to-end project management
process of telecom.
- Ensuring optimal utilization of the surplus
capacity on Kenya Power’s communication system to deliver dark fibre,
Ethernet and TDM services and access to surplus radio tower capacity for
wireless network service providers.
- Spearheading the setting up of co-location
services in data centers at Kenya Power service centers and radio towers.
- Providing technical support to customers to
ensure service continuity and disaster management in accordance with
agreed service levels.
- Designing and develop optical and metallic
cable solutions to meet customer requirements, working closely with customers,
suppliers, technology partners and stakeholders.
- Developing and coordinate initiatives and
strategic partnerships to improve Telecom business unit growth in sales,
market share and profitability
- Development of customer connection and pricing
policy that will result in accelerated connectivity.
- Providing technical guidance in design,
implementation, continuous enhancement and support of Kenya Power’s
commercial data centers and communication network
- Preparing of capital forecasts; both CAPEX and
OPEX and recommend priorities based upon sound technical and economic
analysis.
Appointment Requirements
- Masters’ Degree in Telecommunication
engineering.
- Projects governance certification at
practitioner level; PRINCE2 preferred.
- Ten (10) years working experience with at
least 3 years in technology planning and strategic specialty.
- Professional Registration or qualification
with a relevant professional body.
- Experience with Business case analysis,
research and planning.

Department.
- Providing leadership and ensure efficient and
effective management of staff and resources in the Utility Consultancy
Services Division.
- Ensuring teams deliver quality projects, on
time and within stipulated budgets and quality at all stages of project
execution; whilst ensuring prudent balance between risk and opportunity
management.
- Reviewing for accuracy and quality of project
documentation, disbursement applications and variation orders against
scope/time changes in line with desirable project deliverables.
- Stay abreast with industry and market trends
in order to provide relevant strategic guidance on consultancy issues.
Appointment Requirements
- Master’s degree in a relevant field of
Engineering.

Studies & Research (IESR)

Director, IESR will be responsible for running the Institute, implementing and
maintaining state of the art training programs and facilities.
The key responsibilities for this
position are:
- Providing leadership and ensuring efficient
and effective management of staff and resources in the Institute of Energy
Studies and Research (IESR).
- Developing and implementing a master plan for
establishing a centre of excellence for training and research in power
generation, transmission, distribution and retail of electricity.
- Implementing strategies to support technical
and business research, skills transfer and collaboration with Kenya Power
and other institutions in the region.
- Developing and implementing training
programmes that contribute to Human Resource Development at Kenya Power
and the energy sector as a whole.
- Managing selection, training and examining of
trainees to ensure quality of courses and relevance to sector needs.
- Developing the Institute’s research portfolio
to facilitate staff growth and strengthen the Institute’s financial base
and support the sector in technical prowess.
- Identifying and engaging potential partners
and donors to support the Institute both financially and materially to
effectively carry out its mandate.
Appointment Requirements
- An earned PhD in a relevant science related
course.
- Experience in research and consulting
including published works in international journals.
- Membership of relevant professional
bodies/institutions.
- Ten (10) years working experience, three (3)
of which should have been at the level of middle level management within
an institution of higher learning.
