Portfolio Manager

We are looking for a dynamic, creative and self-driven professional to fill the Portfolio Manager position at Co-op Trust Investment Services Ltd. 


The role holder will be responsible for selling investment products; will be required to ensure growth of assets and client relationship management.

The role 

The successful jobholder will be expected to:
  • Ensure client portfolios are aligned to the stated investment view and adhere to client mandates.
  • Help to grow assets under management by both participating in business development efforts and by growing client portfolios.
  • As the first point of contact for the assigned portfolio, will be required to improve client engagement and the relationship, retention and value generation.
  • Manage portfolio risks, regulatory compliance and adherence to internal policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement initiatives for maintaining strong relationships with existing customers as well as develop new relationships that guarantee a portfolio of customers.
  • Spearhead the development of products, solutions and services that are tailored to meet customers’ needs and requirements.
  • Implement investment strategies encompassing asset allocation and security selection for different asset classes.
  • Evaluate, monitor and prepare reports on investment performance.
Qualifications, Skills & Attributes
 
The successful jobholder will be required to possess the following qualifications:-
  • Degree in a Business related course with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in investment portfolio management, Client service or a Sales and Marketing role.
  • CFA Charter holder, Qualified Accountant, Professional Marketing courses or any other relevant postgraduate qualification.
  • Excellent understanding of financial statements i.e. Profit and Loss, balance sheet and cash flow statements with an understanding of key accounting ratios and modeling techniques.
  • Good presentation, report writing and communication skills as well as the ability to set and meet stretch targets and deadlines.
  • Result driven with a track record of demonstrable networking, selling and influencing skills as well as ability to identify new opportunities.

Support Officer – Card and E-Channels
 
We are looking for a self-driven experienced professional to enhance our ICT support services. 


The role holder will be responsible for the day to day support/supervision and administrative management of the Standard File Interchange, Mobile Banking, Internet Banking, Transmaster front end ATM Clients, Card production, Sacco Interfacing and roll-out as well as projects relating to card products and all other systems managed by the unit.

The role
 
The successful jobholder will be expected to:
  • Ensure that all systems used by the unit are properly managed and meet business needs as well as provide business reports at all times.
  • Establish and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and procedures.
  • Maintain the required system configuration and parameterization by ensuring that change control procedures are maintained.
  • Engage in software installation, upgrades and system enhancements in collaborations with vendors and also evaluate and assess technical requirements for systems implementation.
  • Identify and fix technical problems associated with systems and system failure.
  • Ensure monthly review of passwords changes and removal and ensuring that there is no sharing of passwords and access.
  • Ensure that policies, procedures and guidelines for information processing and outputs are well documented and well understood.
  • Perform housekeeping for the client software installed in Card Business.
  • Implement and maintain database security measures as well as applications tuning and performance monitoring.
Qualifications, Skills & Attributes
 
The successful jobholder will be required to possess the following qualifications:-
  • A University Degree in Computer Science or related field from a recognized University.
  • A higher Diploma in Computer Science will be an added advantage.
  • At least 5 years working experience with 2 years in the IT Department.
  • Hands-on experience in Cards, ATMs and E-Business systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills as well as an excellent communicator with ability to work without supervision.

Bancassurance Direct Sales Representative
 
We are looking for a dynamic, creative, self-driven and highly motivated experienced professional with a good Knowledge of the basic principles and practices of bancassurance, keen, aware of market patterns and with a genuine interest of the Insurance Industry. 

The role holder will be responsible for the development and execution of sales and marketing programs in line with the Bancassurance strategy as well as generation of business from the Bank’s existing Corporate, Asset Finance and Personal Banking portfolios.

The role
 
The successful jobholder will be expected to:
  • Prospect and market various insurance products to prospective clients and advice customers on the adequacy of cover requested for in relation to the policies available.
  • Oversee the operational aspects of Bancassurance business at the branch i.e. underwriting, claims, finance and customer service as well as preparation quotations, negotiating terms for customers and closing sales.
  • Ensure all collaterals and assets that have the Bank interest are properly and comprehensively insured and the Bank’s interest properly noted.
  • Ensure that the Bank, customers and staff insurable assets insured under the branch are renewed on time and that the premium is paid up.
  • Carry out market research and provide customer feedback to our head office Bancassurance team for the development of new products and enhancement of existing ones to suite the various market segments.
  • Train customers and branch staff on insurance translating to business conversion.
  • Ensure that all queries on technical insurance issues from customers and branch staff are addressed promptly while providing technical guidance.
  • Prepare relevant production and financial reports.

Risk Manager

Then this position within our Risk Management department presents you with the perfect opportunity to grow and develop an exciting career that will allow you to Implement Business Continuity Planning and Management for the entire bank and enhance disaster preparedness by conducting appropriate periodic reviews of the operating manuals, staff training, BCP testing and maintenance of the same. 

The role will also require you to keep abreast of recent developments in Risk Management and promptly follow up and escalate key risk issues.

The Role
 
Specifically, the successful jobholder will be required to:
  • Take custody of the Bank’s main Business Continuity Plan (BCP).
  • Ensure that the Bank has up-to-date business continuity/disaster recovery plans, & supporting procedures by reviewing the Business Continuity Management (BCM) policies, procedures and controls & recommending changes. This will also involve ensuring that plans are updated to reflect changes in business strategy & the Bank’s risk profile.
  • Ensure the running and effectiveness of the; Business Continuity Management Team (BCMT), Crisis Management Team (CMT) and Occupational Safety and Health Act Team (OSHA).
  • Oversee the business continuity plan exercise and maintenance on a regular basis, or as may be determined by the Bank’s Business Continuity Management Team.
  • Ensure that all Business units and the branches update their customized Business Continuity Plans and conduct fire drills at least once a year. Also, be the custodian of all updated business units and branch BCPs.
  • Ensure implementation of the BCP by periodically conducting a Risk Management Assessment on the Bank to identify the critical functions.
  • Conduct Business Impact Analysis, (at least once a year) on the identified critical functions.
  • Continuously assess the effectiveness of the facilities available at the Leadership & Management Centre as an alternate site for the Bank’s critical functions in conjunction with ICT and other critical departments
  • Ensure maintenance & communication of the Business continuity duty officer roster and also update & communicate the call trees for the entire bank network
  • Enhance the risk culture by creating awareness & educate all staff bank-wide on Business Continuity Management through various channels.
  • Ensure that all business continuity incidents are reported, resolved promptly and captured in the relevant risk logs.
  • Conduct regular research on Business Continuity Management and ensure that emerging best BCM practices are embraced by the bank, compile pertinent analytical reports for presentation to the Business Continuity Management Team
  • Keep abreast of recent developments in Risk Management especially on Business Continuity Management.
Skills, Competencies and Experience
 
The successful candidate will be required to have the following skills and competencies:
  • Degree in Business and/or Law or equivalent from a recognized institution
  • Risk specific professional qualifications from recognized risk management institution(s)
  • 3 years’ experience in Risk Management especially within the Banking Industry.
  • Membership to the Business Continuity Institute and ACIB/AKIB certification is an added advantage.
  • Good knowledge and experience in Banking Operations with sound general IT knowledge
  • Adaptable, analytical and problem solving competencies.
  • Articulate with excellent communication and report writing skills.
  • A team player and a leader with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized, thorough, quality conscious with a structured and disciplined approach to risk.
