WWF-Kenya
Country Office is seeking to recruit a highly qualified and competent
individual to fill the following vacant position:
Project Officer - Community Anti-Poaching Initiative
(To be based in Mara - Aitong)
The incumbent
will have the following key roles:
- Implements
conservation project activities in line with project action plans;
- Provides technical
support and advice to field staff in project management;
- Acts as the Secretary
to the Project Steering Committee;
- Assists in
establishing an information sharing system;
- Assesses and reports
progress against projects implementation and action plans;
- Ensures compliance of
projects implementation with strategic and policy frameworks/protocols relating
to conservation, governance and capacity building;
- Prepares and presents
periodic technical reports;
- Participates in
knowledge management through conservation research, publication and
dissemination of scientific research;
- Implements project
budgets in line with the approved budgets and WWF Kenya project
implementation policies and guidelines;
- Ensures prudent
management and safety of conservation assets and resources in their
custody;
- Liaises with Human
Resource function in carrying out staff training needs assessments and
recommends training programs to address research assistants’ performance
gaps.
The
prospective candidate should possess:
- A basic degree in
conservation, natural resource management, environmental science or
related field;
- 3 years of experience
in conservation, natural resource management, environmental science, earth
science, wildlife security or related field;
- Demonstrated
understanding of wildlife conservation issues in the larger Mara
ecosystem;
- Good project
management skills with demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple
stakeholders;
- Computer literacy with
good analytical and data management skills;
- Excellent
communication skills;
- Possession of adults
training skills will be an added advantage.
