Migori County Public Service Board wishes to recruit competent and qualified persons to fill the following vacant positions as per the Constitution of Kenya 2010 and the County Government Act No.17 of 2012.

1. County Attorney
JG “R”

One (1) Post

The County Attorney will be the head of the county legal department and will be responsible for advising departments and agencies of the County Government on legislative and other legal related matters.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for advising the County Government on all matters relating to the Constitution, National Legislations, County Legislations, international law, human rights, consumer protection and legal aid
  • Liaison between the County Government, other county governments and the National Government on legal matters.
  • Custodian of County Public Seal, contracts and other legal instruments of the county.
  • Responsible for drafting and publication of legislative proposals for the county Government and advising the County Government and its agencies on legislative and other legal matters;
  • Represent the county government in court in any legal proceedings arising from county legislation or any other legislation to which the County Government is a party or has interest, other than criminal proceedings;
  • Responsible for negotiating, drafting, vetting and interpreting local and international documents, agreements and treaties for and on behalf of the County Government and its agencies
  • Undertake legal audits to ensure that all County and national legislations that are applicable in the county are complied with or enforced;
  • Responsible for publication of County Gazette, Bills and Acts of County Assembly;
  • Any other duty as may be assigned from time to time
Requirements for Appointment
  • Be a Kenyan Citizen
  • Bachelor of Law Degree from a recognized University
  • Must be an advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
  • Diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law
  • At least ten (10) years’ post admission experience in a commercial institution or a busy law firm.
  • Demonstrate administrative and professional competence in work performance at that level.
  • Knowledge in records of relevant law and professional standards
  • Posses leadership and communication skills
  • Satisfy the requirements of Chapter six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010

2. Deputy Director Medical Health Services

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Monitoring, enforcing and implementing statutory provisions and other relevant legislations on medical health services
  • Setting standards and guidelines in the provision of public health services
  • Monitoring the implementation of medical health projects and programs
  • Enforcing international medical health regulations and rules
  • Carrying out research on public health needs
  • Preparing proposals for resource mobilization
  • Organizing forums with relevant partners and agencies in support of public health programs and projects
  • Planning and budgeting for departmental resources
  • Integrating modern information communication technology in the department
  • Developing strategy/work plans, performance targets and contracts in the department
Requirements for Appointment
  • Be a Kenyan Citizen
  • Be a holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Health from a recognized university in Kenya
  • Must be registered by the Medical Practitioners and Dentist board
  • Demonstrate professional competence and ability as reflected in work performance and results
  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years relevant experience at a senior management level

  • Preparing documents for upcoming court hearings

Requirements for Appointment
  • Be a Kenyan Citizen
  • Bachelor of Law Degree from a recognized university
  • Experience in Legal Secretarial Services is a desired advantage
  • Have at least three (3) years’ post qualification experience in a legal practice environment.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assisting in the preparation of specific audit assignment plans and programs
  • Performing audit tests on internal controls in accounting, administrative and operational procedures
  • Ensuring that the audit findings are properly documented
  • Preparing draft audit reports detailing audit findings
  • Any other duty that may be assigned from time to time
Requirements for Appointment
  • Be a Kenyan citizen;
  • Be a holder of Bachelors Degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance or Business Administration from a recognized university;
  • Certified Public Accountants CPA(K) or its equivalent professional qualifications from a recognized Institution;
  • At least three (3) years hands on experience in audit function in a busy environment
  • Computer literate with hands on experience with Computer Assisted Audit Tools Techniques (CAATs) is desirable
  • Additional professional qualifications such as CISA and CIA will be an added advantage.

5. Architect

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Produce detailed workings, drawing and specifications of building construction project including specifying nature and quality of materials required;
  • Prepare tender documents for the designed projects;
  • Prepare feasibility study reports and design proposals and advise the department/County Government on the viability of projects;
  • Prepare projects management plans/schedules and coordinate/supervise and control works of contractors;
  • Consult with other professional on the design of the project/environment;
  • Ensure projects are run on schedule and within budget estimates;
  • Prepare regular and periodic reports;
  • Any other duties as assigned.

  • Be in possession of Bachelor of Architect from a recognized university in Kenya
  • Proficiency in computer applications especially a working knowledge of either AUTOCAD or REVIT and also Sketch up for 3D work;

  • Theoretical and practical instruction in the area of specialization;
  • Preparing scheme of work lesson plans, lesson plans and lesson notes;
  • Ensuring trainee discipline;
  • Preparing and teaching and learning materials and trainee records;
  • Carrying out trainee assessment and compiling progress reports;
  • Ensuring proper care and maintenance of tools and equipments;
  • Conducting co –curricular activities;
  • Guidance and counseling of trainees;
  • Monitoring trainees on field work and industrial attachment and compiling progress reports;
  • Setting and marking examinations;
  • Any other duties assigned from time to time.
Requirements for Appointment
  • Diploma in any of the following disciplines:
  1. Fashion Design and Garment making
  2. Metal Processing Technology,
  3. Agri-business.
  • Trade Test Grade I in the relevant profession.

  • A pedagogical certificate from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
