Established in 2013, our client is fully financed, with a broad and strategic investor base, which supports the Group’s working capital needs.
The Role: Reporting to the Group Finance Director based in
London, the candidate will be responsible for overseeing the Finance function
in East Africa on a day to day basis.
The candidate will be responsible for
ensuring that the local teams are producing timely, accurate and insightful
management reporting to business unit leaders and the Group.
The candidate will also be
responsible for coordinating with external advisors to ensure that statutory
and tax risks are understood and mitigated at a local level.

This will involve overseeing a
Finance transformation project aimed at upgrading systems, processes and people
as well as integrating new acquisitions into the group.
The candidate must understand the tax
regimes across the East Africa region.

Responsibilities
- Overseeing local business unit Heads of
Finance (FD/FC) in each country
- Coordinate the monthly reporting and
consolidation cycle, creating improvements in both the timeliness and
quality of reporting
- Improve processes, people and systems by
playing a leading role in a finance transformation project that is already
underway
- Work with group management team and group FD
to support strategic decisions and investments
- Work with local MDs to support growth
initiatives and provide valuable financial insight and analysis for
projects and investment activity
- Create and maintain a local centre of
excellence for group in East Africa which will allow us to create
consistency and efficiency in our Finance function while upgrading the
output for management
- Oversee relationship with group and local auditors
and advisors to ensure FCs are adhering to local statutory requirements
and are structuring in the most efficient manner
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience with
international blue chip organizations.
- Demonstrable organizational experience of
managing a diverse and multi-geography team.
- History of delivering monthly consolidated
reporting to an agreed timetable and quality.
- Will be comfortable working in a global matrix
organization. Has worked effectively in an organization of considerable
size and scope.
- Must have superior communication and
presentation skills allowing a bridge between Finance and Operations
locally as well as providing valuable insight to the Group management team
and Board.
- Proven leadership experience: Experience in
managing and building a high performance team culture.
- Experience developing and managing operating
budgets, cash flows and capital expenditure.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively
across an organization; strong interpersonal and judgment skills will be
required to influence internal and external constituents.
- Superior IT skills (accounting software,
Excel, Powerpoint).
Qualifications:
- Qualified ACA/ACCA or equivalent
- Excellent skills with Microsoft Office; Excel
and PowerPoint
- Experience dealing with Board level executives
- Excellent communication skills

- Experience working in East Africa region
across multiple sites
- Experience working in construction or similar
project based industry
- Experience dealing with local statutory and
tax issues in East Africa, including an appreciation of WHT, VAT & all
related statutory requirements.
