professionals to fill the positions below:
Assessment Manager
Main Job purpose: The assessor will be responsible for effective management and processing of all claims payable by the company under its contractual / policy obligations to its customers.
Main Responsibilities
- Approve valuation reports and ensure that all
vehicles proposed for insurance are both roadworthy and insurable.
- Approve dispatch of correspondences and
investigation & Assessment Instructions.
- Approve repair authority and own damage claims
payments.
- Analyze and approve assessment and
investigation reports.
- Analyze and Approve Third Party claims
proposals on negotiations parameters.
- Approve invoices from external assessors,
investigators and other service providers.
- Vet and recommend the approval of the panel of
garages and salvage buyers.
- Be a member of the Salvage Tender Committee
and ensure a speedy disposal of Salvages
- Provide monthly claim reports for internal and
external use.
- Pursue recovery from third parties and/or
third party insurers.
- Handle enquiries and approvals on payment of
excess.
- Handle negotiations and customer complaints
from the insured or intermediaries.
- Ensure proper update of the claim files both
in the system and physical files.
- Detect and investigate fraudulent claims and
collect proper evidence to effectively repudiate and/or defend such claims
- Maintain and update a pricing record of spare
parts for effective analysis of Assessors reports
- Attend court for hearings as a witness in
recovery proceedings.
- Effectively manage the Department's cash
allocation/budget.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree course in Mechanical
Engineering or related degree course from a recognized institution.
- Diploma in Insurance (mandatory) for
non-insurance degree holders
- Management training will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Five years progressive hands on working
experience in motor insurance industry is compulsory, two of which must be
at a supervisory/management position.
Technical/Functional
- Assessment and approving insured motor
vehicles accident damage (own damage & Third Party Property Damage
claims).
Knowledge
- Polished MS office skills
- Must be conversant with names of motor vehicle
body parts and the rates for parts and labour.
- Possess strong interpersonal, communication
and negotiation skills.
Motor Assessor
The Motor assessor’s role will be to assess insured motor vehicles accident damage (own damage & Third Party Property Damage) and provide accurate and timely reports
Main Responsibilities
The Motor assessor’s role will be to assess insured motor vehicles accident damage (own damage & Third Party Property Damage) and provide accurate and timely reports
Main Responsibilities
- Assessment of the accident vehicle within 48
hours and submit an assessment report.
- Negotiate with the garages on the repair
costs.
- Source for spare parts at reasonable prices
where and if need arises.
- Visit the garage to monitor progress of
repairs.
- Prepare supplementary assessment reports if
need be.
- Re- assessment of the repaired vehicle,
preparation and submitting of assessment reports.
- Prepare a pre-theft valuation reports.
- Verify towing and windscreen claims, verify
radio cassette quotation and receipts & submit a report on the
same within 48 hours of instructions
- Evaluate quantification of Third Party
Property Damage claims and prepare a report within 48 hours of
instructions
- Verify receipts and documents in support of
own damage & Third Party Property Damage claims.
- Check for breach of policy by the insured vis
a vis vehicle damage and circumstances of the accident.
- Attend to any other special investigation or
assessment instructions as may be assigned.
- Attend court for hearings as a witness in
Third Party Property Damage claims/recovery proceedings.
- Detect and investigate fraudulent claims and
collect proper evidence to effectively repudiate and/or defend such claims
- Maintain and update a pricing record of spare
parts for effective analysis of Assessors reports
Skills and Requirements
- Diploma course in Mechanical Engineering or
related course from a recognized institution
- Minimum 2 years relevant experience
- Certificate of Proficiency (COP) in insurance
from College of Insurance, preferably motor chapter subject
- Ability to carry out motor assessment and re-inspection
of repaired motor vehicles
- Preparation of assessment and re-inspection
reports
- Ability to negotiate repair costs with garage
owners
- Must have clear understanding of the market
prices of spare parts for various makes of vehicles
- Ability to analyze assessment reports from
external assessors and give recommendations
- Ability to work independently is a must, with
an energetic “can do” attitude to work.
- Excellent time management and communication
skills both in verbal presentation and writing
- Polished computer skills (MS Office Suite)
