About Innovations for Poverty Action: is a non-profit organization dedicated to discovering and promoting effective solutions to global poverty problems. 


In close partnership with decision makers -- the policymakers, practitioners, investors, and donors working with the poor around the world -- IPA designs and evaluates potential solutions to poverty problems using randomized evaluations, the most rigorous evaluation method available.

We also mobilize and support these decision makers to use these solutions to build better programs and policies at scale
 
About the project: The Kenya Life Panel Survey (KLPS) project is a follow-up of the Primary School Deworming Program (PSDP) that was launched by International Child Support (ICS) in Busia District in 1998. 

The fourth follow-up of 7,500 individuals who had been enrolled in primary school grades 2-7 in 1998 will be conducted in early 2016.
 
Description of Work: The programmer will program our survey from paper to SurveyCTO code. This will involve entering question text without mistakes and formatting response settings as well as more advanced programming such as creating skip patterns and reading existing data into the survey. 

Programmer will receive training in SurveyCTO where necessary.

In addition to writing code, throughout the coding process the programmer will run routine checks of survey functionality and make corrections and changes as needed.

This will be done in close coordination with the Field and Data Manager and the Research Associate.
 
Qualifications:
 
Academic Qualifications:
  • Preferably college diploma or university degree in sociology, statistics, economics, education, development studies, social sciences, health, or related fields.
  • Candidates must have completed secondary schooling.
Professional / Technical Skills:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and particularly has experience writing functions in Excel.
  • Strong typing skills.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with SurveyCTO experience, though candidates with other computer coding experience will be considered.
Other Qualities and Attributes:
  • Most importantly a positive attitude towards the position;
  • Well-organized;
  • Promptness; attention to detail; initiative.
  • Candidates must be fluent in Kiswahili and English.
