Security and Office Administration Coordinator – Nairobi, Kenya
 

Permanent Position

As the Security and Office Administration Coordinator for IDRC’s Regional Office for Sub-Saharan Africa and under the supervision of the Manager, Local Operations, you will manage all matters related to the security of IDRC employees in Nairobi, and to the protection of assets at the regional office. 


In particular, you will develop and implement a comprehensive security plan including the identification, mitigation and continual assessment of risks inside and outside the office. 

As well, you will maintain security readiness by accessing and disseminating security intelligence, coordinate actions during an event or alert, oversee the performance of outsources security guards at staff residential areas and ensure that IDRC-owned vehicles are serviced on schedule and undertake a variety of security administration matters. 

You will also collaborate with the Office Administration Assistant in the administration of the office in the areas of procurement, financial information, relocation and general support. 

In addition, you will support liaisons with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs/Kenya Revenue Authority for document processing.

Overview of Qualifications
  • Minimum of a two-year college diploma in a relevant specialty from a recognised tertiary-education institution.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience with a focus on security and administration-related operations (i.e. working as a security officer or manager in a reputable commercial or non-governmental organization) which includes: developing and implementing security plans, assessing, identifiying and mitigating risks, using security networks to access and disseminate secruity intelligence to maintain security readiness, conducting site and residential security surveys, coordinating required acitions during a security event or alert, working on or with a health and safety committee, providing security administration and office support, and not less than two years of continuous driving experience.
  • Superior English reading comprehension, oral expression and written expression language skills are essential; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in Kiswahili is a must.
