ACTED Kenya is looking for experienced, driven and committed development workers to fill two (2) posts of Community Mobilizers in Mandera, Kenya.
ACTED Kenya is looking for experienced, driven and committed development workers to fill two (2) posts of Community Mobilizers in Mandera, Kenya.
This position will support the
successful implementation of ACTED activities in Mandera County, in order to
assist marginalized communities in this area.
Reporting to the Project Officer, the
Community Mobilizer’s key areas of responsibility will include:
- Carry out community mobilization and assist
the team in capacity building activities with community members and
elders.
- Liaise with communities, beneficiaries, and
local authorities.
- Carry out beneficiary identification,
selection, training, development activities and sensitization as needed or
requested.
- Carry out daily implementations of field
activities.
- Work with ACTED management and comply with rules
and procedures.
- Assist with weekly and monthly planning and
reporting to the Project Officer/Programme Manager
- Keep the Project Officer regularly updated on
all issues related to the project activities.
- Supervise and ensure correct and accountable
documentation of all activities, including checking attendance sheets,
stock reports, meeting minutes, along with ensuring that all necessary
amounts or signatures are collected.
- Listen too, receive and document community
feedback and pass this on to Project Officer/Program Manager in a timely
manner, and deliver and document responses to community feedback.
- Perform any other duty as assigned by the
direct supervisor
Qualifications / Skills Required
- A higher diploma in Social Work, Community
Development or a related field/ discipline
- Good reputation within the larger community.
- Experience with grassroots initiatives in
rural areas/ASAL
- Experience with participatory community
development principles and practices preferred.
- Experience in CMDRR is an added advantage
- Capacity to live with minimal comfort on
occasional basis (e.g. camping in communities)
- Ability to show initiative and function
effectively in loosely structured, complex work environment that is
constantly and rapidly changing
- Patient and optimistic approach to
problem-solving, good communication and facilitation skills
- Ability to carry out responsibilities
independently with minimal technical support from within the program
organization; ability to identify the gap and address them
- Ability and willingness to work cross border
with other communities in instable and potentially dangerous areas.
- Good oral and written communication skills
- English & Kiswahili fluency are minimum
requirements. Fluency in local language is a must. Knowledge of more than
one of the languages mentioned is an added advantage
- Basic computer knowledge is mandatory

Main objective: Perform key logistics and administrative roles for ACTED’s programs in Somalia.

Main objective: Perform key logistics and administrative roles for ACTED’s programs in Somalia.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible of the fleet management.
- Responsible of the base improvement
(comfortable, practical, security, ..) through rehabilitation work, furniture
and equipment set up.
- Ensure that the computer and all communication
equipment are functional and properly used.
- Responsible to make sure that contracts of
services or procurement are relevant according to ACTED and donors
procedures.
- Responsible for the assets and stock materials
in the base, including monthly asset and stock inventory.
- Check field invoices to ensure ACTED
procedures are followed (BAP, signatures…)
- Supervise the financial follow up (cash
forecast)
- Responsible to insure that cash flow between
the capital and base office(s) is properly organized, and that all
payments made by the local transfer companies are duly documented.
- Submit logistic, administrative and financial
inputs to the Program Manager/Officer.
- Send on monthly basis to capital office: cash
flow needs, ,
- Send all logistics monthly TITANIC (park
statement, asset list, inventories, fleet management, …)
- Monitoring, reporting, advising on security
context; attend security meeting and use both formal and informal means of
communication to understand and anticipate potentially dangerous
scenarios;
- In close collaboration with the Coordinator
for Somalia, the security manager and the Country Logistics Manager,
support both at program and operational level the future establishment of
a full team and an ACTED office in Somalia that meets ACTED’s SOPs
- Prepare daily updates and monthly reports on
the security situation and any other reports requested by Security
Manager;
- Work with the Program Officer on team’s weekly
movement plans
- Will be the focal point for the security who
provides the office security personnel
- To ensure HR tasks are completed on a monthly
basis as per the ACTED HR manual
- Responsible for maintaining the Leave Follow
Up and Leave Planning tools.
Qualifications / Required Skills:
- University Degree preferably in Business
Administration or related field and two years experience in working with
International NGOs in the similar level.
- Motivated and create in approaches to work
- Excellent interpersonal skills and
demonstrated ability to establish effective and working relationships
- Excellent communication skills, personable and
articulate
- Fluent in written and spoken Somalia and
English.
- Strong team player of high integrity, pleasant
personality, ability to work under least supervision and meet strict
deadlines.
- Computer literate and with excellent I T
Knowledge.
- Demonstrated experience in overall
responsibility and accountability for the logistical and administration
management of an organization;
- Good public Relations with strong negotiation
skills.
