Financial Accountant Job in Kenya

Our client Hotpoint Appliances Ltd has been around since 1984 and distributes some of the leading global brand such as LG Electronics, Westpoint, Ariston and Kenwood.

The company is quickly expanding its operations throughout Kenya and is now one of the region's largest retailers and wholesalers of consumer electronics and entertainment products. 
 

Through strong supplier partnerships, they have a promise to provide customers with quality products featuring the latest technology, while offering unparalleled after-sales service. 

As a result of this expansion they are seeing to fill the position of a Financial Accountant who will report and work very closely with the Financial Controller in delivering set company objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintains a full set of accounts as required by law and management using Company’s ERP system. 
  • Ensures that books are up to date at all times - everything is posted correctly in real time, keeping in mind that MA has to prepare his reports based on the financial records.
  • Monitor all claims and ensures that ensure that all control and other accounts are reconciled at least once a month.
  • Ensure that the P & L statements, Balance Sheet and other such financials are prepared and submitted to management on time
  • Ensure that all Debtors statements are on time. This also includes following to ensure creditors are paid as per credit periods; the job holder will also ensure that all queries relating to this are resolved.
  • Take lead in managing and submitting timely and accurately reports to the bank, internal auditors, working Directors, heads of departments as well as submission of taxes through the iTax system, 
  • Negotiating on behalf of the Financial Controller with  external parties such as Insurers and ensure that all declaration are sent to the Insurers on time
  • Support the Financial Controller in production of all reports required by the Board of Directors
  • Continuously monitors all procedures and controls and suggests necessary changes to the Financial Controller and Management to improve work flow, cut out duplications, improve internal controls to guard against frauds, etc.
  • Works closely with marketing and other departments in setting up credit limits and collection of debts
  • Process staff payroll
  • Process rentals, payments for utilities, licences and the like are made on time
  • Suggests business strategies to generate shareholder value
Education and Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree or a Diploma in Accounting
  • Qualifications in ACCA,CPA or ACMA
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in an senior accounting position with a Commercial organisation
  • Experience in maintaining books using ERP systems
  • Experience in preparing financial reports for management.
  • Experience in working with External Auditors
  • Some experience/knowledge in supply chain management
  • Has some Knowledge of legal requirements for companies and Tax matters
  • Has some Knowledge of trademarks and insurances 
Skills Required:
  • IT literate and fully conversant with high end ERP systems
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • Have analytical problem solving skills
  • Ability to evaluate alternatives and make recommendations to management on business issues
  • Have good written and verbal communications skills
