Programme Officer Job in Kenya

About us: Pan African Climate Justice Alliance is the largest African civil society platform on Environment, climate change and sustainable development. 

We are a coalition of more than 1,000 members, advocating for a pro-poor and people-centered response to the growing global climate change crisis. 

PACJA unites and coordinates isolated civil society efforts on climate change advocacy to hold African governments to account on integrating climate change into national poverty reduction and sustainable development actions while at the same time advocating for Africa positions in global climate change processes.

Vacancy: Programme Officer
 

Are you a highly motivated professional with a background in environmental, social sciences, project management, development studies or equivalent qualifications, possessing at least a bachelor’s degree?

Do you have excellent communication skills and you can write, read and converse fluently in Meru Language?
 
Do you have experience in working with community based initiatives? 
 
Have you worked with women groups and have you led a campaign targeting County Governments in integrating community initiatives in devolution?  
 
Do you understand the challenge climate change poses to humanity and our communities, and have you closely followed, participated or led community initiatives?
 
Do you have good conceptual and analytical skills and ability to think and operate innovatively?
 
Do you possess exceptional organizational skills to enable you to optimize independent use of time against variable workload?
 
If you have all the above, then you are the person we are looking for. 

We are recruiting a programme officer to be part of a six-month initiative with a possibility of two months extension.  

The initiative is focusing on promoting climate resilient livelihoods through enhancing community coping strategies and participation of marginalized groups in policy making in Meru County.
