The Lodge is a travelers’ haven located just three hours’ drive or a 15 minute flight from Nairobi. Giraffe ark is a rich fusion of Pan African, Western, Oriental, and Arabian themes with a homely atmosphere.

Lodge Sales Executives

Job overview: This position is vital to ensure Giraffe Ark Lodge is profitable. 


You are responsible for generating sales across all our key revenue streams (guest rooms and suites; meeting and conferences and seminars; weddings, anniversary celebrations and funerals and any special events).  

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maximising key revenue streams to ensure consistent usage of all lodge facilities.
  • Building relationships with potential and past clients
  • Managing OTAs to improve guest room and suites occupancies and yields.
  • As required, attend trade shows, wedding fairs, cold calling and networking events to bring new bookers and contacts into the lodge.
  • Managing the processes we have in place to collect customer feedback and comments.
  • Identify positives and build on these to improve our products.
  • Were the individual can be identified, address negatives direct with the objective to turn a complainant into a loyal customer.
  • Develop action plans with other departments to eliminate negatives.
  • Establishing a process to ensure all new customers and contacts are entered.
  • Updating our website with i. all pricing changes and events. ii. content for the blog. iii. Identifying those sections which are “dated” and recommending replacement content
  • Working with the Directors with the Lodge’s on line Social Media presence.
  • Identifying new relevant Social Media Platforms.
  • Work with the Directors: To review constantly our hospitality products and pricing and to develop the Lodge’s Sales and Marketing Plan
Person specifications/Qualifications/Skills
  • Experience within Conference and Event management, and/or sales in the hospitality industry is preferred. With a proven track record of sales.
  • Bachelors Degree/Diploma in relevant field with one to three years of sales experience, preferably in hotel sales or other hospitality industries
  • Strong “people person” with excellent communication skills;
  • Positive, persuasive personality;
  • Diligent attention to detail, whilst ensuring an exemplary experience for all customers.

Food and Beverage Manager

Job Overview: The position holder will be in charge of controlling and co-ordinating all Food and Beverage operations to the highest standards.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Achievement of budgeted food sales, beverage sales, labour costs and profitability.
  • Completion of Customer Follow-up calls on a timely basis.
  • Timely analysis of Food & Beverage Prices in relation to competition.
  • Participation and input towards F&B Marketing activities.
  • Entertainment of potential and existing customers.
  • Preparation of Sales Promotions & Mailings.
  • Competitive analysis every six months by calling competition and gathering data such as banquet kits, room rental rates, etc.
  • Telemarketing to previous clients to inquire about possible future bookings.
  • Development and maintenance of all department control procedures.
  • Handle all Food & Beverage inquiries and ensure timely follow up on the same business day.
  • To confirm all details relative to group functions with meeting/banquet planners.
  • Maintain and uphold Hotel credit policies.
  • Directly responsible for large function billings and overseeing medium/small function billings with particular regard to accuracy and timeliness (48 hours)
  • Ensuring that evaluation forms accompany all invoices.
  • Completion and review of monthly forecast.
  • Attendance and participation at weekly F & B meeting and Department Head meeting.
  • Assist in menu planning and pricing in liaison with the Chefs.
  • Perform any other duties as allocated by the lodge manager from time to time.

Lodge Manager – Giraffe Ark Lodge

Job Overview:
 Overseeing all lodge operations to ensure safe and sound service delivery, making sure the clients get value for their money. 


Ensuring all the clients are attended to and coordinating the operations to meet daily customer expectations and standards and acquiring and maintaining of new accounts to meet financial obligations.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Developing and implementing SOPS and monitor to ensure proper standards of service adhered to at all times
  • Check weekly and daily forecast, and supervise table and room allocation to guests
  • Welcome and seat guests in the restaurant, supervise order taking and service and control meals for staying and walk in guests
  • In liaison with the Head Chef brief staff on the day’s menu and coordinate service
  • Monitor restaurant opening and closing duties including staff grooming and hygiene, restaurant setting and cleanliness for service
  • Authorize purchase of stores requirements in liaison with the F & B Manager and Housekeeping manager
  • Conduct a monthly stock take of operating equipment and maintain and update of all lodge records
  • Continually monitor and control the usage of equipment and supplies
  • Gather feedback and comments/complaints from guests and communicate to all concerned parties for action
  • Plan, organize, allocate and co-ordinate the work of the team & provide leadership to the team including preparing duty rosters, off and leave schedules.
  • Leading , motivating and developing and controlling lodge staff
  • Dealing with staff matters and welfare issues
  • Conducting marketing and business development for lodge products
  • Dealing with credit facilities for the hotel
  • Dealing with customer care and training of staff in customer services and related field
  • And any other duties that may be assigned from time to time
