The Director will manage a growing
team of Solutions Engineers and Operational Support Analysts.
The Director will liaise with Partner
Relationship Managers responsible for successful delivery of OS
solutions.
The Director will also closely
collaborate with the Core Technology team responsible for building new

- Manage a team of 10+ software engineers and
technical support analysts
- Coordinate multiple, simultaneous
implementation projects across different geographies and time zones
- Set and manage expectations with integration
partners including establishing key relationships with IT counterparts
- Ensure timely and quality delivery of new
services
- Establish and maintain a 24/7 technology
support infrastructure post-implementation
- Collaborate with the Core Technology and
Product team in strategic planning of product development activities.
- Maintain a dynamic set of partner-facing
technology materials including integration guides
- Assist Partnership Relationship Managers and
Sales team on selling new services
- Provide timely and accurate reporting to
Partner Relationship Managers and others
Desired Skills and Experience
- Bachelors degree in computer science, computer
engineering or related IT field (Graduate degree a plus)
- MBA or Master’s in Technology Management a
plus
- 7+ years with a top-tier management or
technology consulting firm or the equivalent in-line experience delivering
enterprise-level software
- 5+ years of project management experience
- 2+ years web application development
experience, capable of deeply understanding and working at all layers of a
web application stack; designing and implementing large, distributed and
scalable services
- Able to manage diverse, simultaneous projects
of varying complexities.
- Demonstrable experience in playing a
leadership role with a team of engineers that successfully “shipped”
products.
- Experience leading the development of
successful products in an agile environment
- Experience with cloud computing and
multi-tenant and single-tenant software architecture
- Familiarity with our development stack which
includes Ruby on Rails, Postgresql, Android, Apache, Phusion Passenger,
Ubuntu Linux, AWS, JavaScript (Angular.js), Bootstrap and use tools such
as JIRA, GitHub, Square Squash, Jenkins, Redis, New Relic among others

Summary: The Business Development Director, based in Nairobi, leads business development activities in our Africa group for all new and existing clients.
This senior position will provide
strategic leadership in business development in order to maintain a healthy,
productive client pipeline of new business.
The role also includes day to day
management of all sales activities, including management of outside sales
professionals and partners, to ensure the Kopo Kopo Africa meets all revenue
targets. Areas of focus include:
Winning new business
Winning new business
- Develop additional customer relationships in
existing Kopo Kopo markets (e.g., Kenya, Ghana, Rwanda).
- In cooperation with relationship managers,
close new business with existing customers for new features such as Grow
cash advances.
- Prospect for new customers in new African
markets.
- Close new business as per the agreed-to Kopo
Kopo business development plan.
Conducting the full range of business
development activities
- Develop, implement and run processes from
prospecting through deal signing.
- Maintain high quality standards for proposals,
business cases, commercial frameworks.
- Manage business development and pricing
process (e.g. proposals, business case building, commercial frameworks and
contracts).
- Manage contract negotiations with input as
needed from Kopo Kopo legal and executive teams.
General Responsibilities
- Maintain a professional and effective
communication to all levels, stimulating initiatives, innovations, and
motivation for continuous improvements
- Represent Kopo Kopo Kenya when directed, at
conferences, meetings, corporate reviews, committees and working groups,
to work on sales opportunities, marketing initiatives or other such ideas
as conditions present
- Report Weekly and Monthly results to the Kopo
Kopo management team

experience with specific experience on enterprise software sales to large
organizations
