Our client is a Housing Co-operative Society that endeavors to address the housing challenges by acquiring land at low negotiated prices and then pass on the subsidized costs to its members with the aim of providing them with accommodation and livelihood at a reasonable price. 

They seek to hire an accountant 

Description:
 The incumbent will be identifying, recording, measuring, classifying, verifying, summarizing, interpreting and communicating financial information including assets, liabilities, income and expenditures.



Duties and Responsibilities
  • To produce timely and accurate financial reports
  • To make timely statutory returns to the exchequer
  • Adequate implementation of effective financial controls.
  • Strict adherence to the financial budget, as well as budgeting and budgetary controls.
  • Compliance with international financial standards (IFS)
  • Monitor Cash and Bank balances and doing cash flow projections.
  • Invoicing and sending out debtors reminder notes/statements
  • Maintaining of Debtors and Creditors ledgers and carrying out reconciliations of the same.
  • Extract management and final accounts / liaising with external auditors
  • Management of long term liabilities e.g. hire purchase obligations, loan etc
  • Maintenance of a Fixed Assets Register
  • Liaise with bank officials, insurance and auditors
  • Updating Finance Manager on matters pertaining to finance functions.
  • Petty cash management – issuing and reconciliation
  • Carry out analysis of payment requests and reconcile them with approved documentation including purchase orders and contracts.
  • Process payments to service providers and remit statutory deduction to relevant authorities in accordance with operating guidelines.
  • Generating summary of LPO in the financial management system on monthly basis, prepare reports on outstanding payments / obligations and extract periodic commitment control Reports.
  • Updating expenditure control cards for contractual payments and ensure no contract over-runs
  • Preparing staff payroll and remit statutory deductions to the relevant authorities.
  • Reviewing reimbursement claims submitted from the projects components and project implementation unit and process payment in compliance with operational and financial procedures.
  • Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
Qualifications, Experience & Personal Attributes
  • Degree or Diploma preferably in FINANCE or any other related field
  • CPA Section 6
  • At least TWO years relevant experience
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • Maintaining a Good corporate image
  • Comprehensive weekly reporting to management
  • Teamwork with sales team
  • Good time management and work plan
