Recruiting New Members of the Board of Governance
VSO is a development organisation
that has been working through volunteers to fight poverty for more than fifty
years.
VSO Jitolee, an independent INGO
registered in Kenya, and governed by a local board, is a member of the VSO
Federation.
We are based in Nairobi with a
regional mandate to promote volunteerism and recruit skilled professionals from
the region to serve as volunteers in VSO’s country programmes.
In addition, VSO Jitolee works in
partnership with government agencies, local and international organisations to
contribute to national development in Kenya.
Who are we looking for?
We believe that People are the best
agents of change and in this role we are looking for East African nationals of
good reputation and standing.
Interested persons must also be
willing to commit their time and be available for at least ten days a year for
board and committee meetings including an annual retreat/General Meeting.
Board members will be expected to be committed to VSO values, be of high integrity, with multisectoral expertise/experience, broad national/ international linkages, and exceptional leadership drive.
A conviction in volunteerism for development is highly desired. We would particularly like to hear from people from civil society, private sector, government and UN bodies with a strong track record and accomplished in fundraising and business development.
Prior experience as a board member would be an added advantage, but not essential. (Please note that board membership will be a voluntary and therefore not a salaried position).
Qualified East African nationals who feel it would be exciting and challenging to give their time, insights and skills to influence the affairs and be part of a growing, dynamic and innovative International NGO are hereby invited to apply by Friday, 26th June 2015.
Interviews for shortlisted candidates will be held between 29th June and 3rd July 2015.
