The African Institute for Development
Policy (AFIDEP) is an international non-profit policy think-tank whose mission
is to translate and enable utilisation of evidence in policy-making, primarily
in the fields of population change and sustainable development, and health
systems strengthening in Africa.
We work to bridge the gap between research, policy and practice by enabling use
of research evidence in decision-making aimed at addressing various development
challenges in Africa.
With our Head Office in
Nairobi-Kenya, and a branch office in Lilongwe-Malawi, we are seeking an
experienced and highly motivated individual to fill the following position:
Knowledge Translation Officer
The Knowledge Translation Officer's role mainly entails coordination and management of knowledge translation and capacity building programmes.

Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the implementation of research
projects including data collection and collation, data analysis, and
systematic evidence and policy reviews,
- Promote application of research findings in
decision-making processes at national, regional, and international levels.
- Write critical research reports.
- Contribute to capacity building and knowledge
generation/synthesis activities.
- Contribute to proposal writing.
- Develop and disseminate policy-oriented
advocacy materials.
Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and
Experience
- The candidate should possess a minimum of
Masters degree in Public Health, Population Studies or Economics or
related areas.
- Other related relevant training and research
and policy analysis work will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in
research programme management, knowledge translation and policy
engagement, including scientific writing, synthesising and translating
research evidence into outputs that are usable by policymakers, developing
policy-oriented advocacy materials, monitoring and evaluation of policies
and programmes, and a track record in coordinating research programmes and
partnerships.
- Strong qualitative and quantitative research
skills as well as analytical and critical thinking, with excellent writing
and communication skills in English.
- Additional official language such as French
will be an added advantage.

Analysis, Health Economics, or Development Economics.
The candidate should also have strong
qualitative and quantitative research skills; have a track record in journal
publications, grants proposal writing and hands-on experience in policy
analysis, synthesising and translating research evidence into outputs that can
be easily used by policymakers and in policy engagement.
